1 mill a season.. f**k me, what's he going to be worth in 3 or 4 years when he's negotiating his next contract, you'd think he wouldn't settle for anything less than 1 mill

he hasn't even played origin or any of that yet

I agree he is important, Money causes so many jealousy problems...

How do the Cowboys players cope with Thurston being paid much more than they are? Storm players with Smith?
How does any squad cope with dealing with the idea that one superstar player is getting paid substantially more than the rest?

I dont see why this would be a problem in Canberra, and not anywhere else

Thurston and Smith are the best in the world in their respective positions

Sure, but someone has got to be the highest paid player at each club and given we don't have a player who is the "best at his position", id imagine any professional footballer worth their salt, would accept that a 19 year old kid on the verge of being one of the best, whom might leave the club, is a pretty good candidate for being the highest paid player in the club

the idea that signing him to this sort of money would create some kind of ripple effect of jealousy is just a laughable piece of scare mongering. Every player in the Raiders squad, to a f**king man, says they hope the club is doing all they can to keep him

it's all getting beyond silly now

I would suggest the screaming had already been and gone
there is a 99% chance he is playing for the Broncos next year, there isnt a raiders fan in the world who isnt aware of this and who could be reasonably expecting him to stay

the screaming will only start if he backflips, and it wont be coming from the nations capital.

I'm pretty sure the Raiders squad understand that Milford is the key to their success this year.

He's the superstar that makes the difficult look ridiculously easy. And atm he isn't far behind Thurston who I suspect is saving his 3 best games of the year for Origin.

Based on club form, Milf is at the very least JTs equal this year. The clubs don't care about meaningless Pro Bowl shenanigans.

And so the Raiders players would be delighted if Milf stayed, even if offered 1 mill as they know he's worth it.

I would be screaming if we had to pay 1 million to sign a rookie who hasn't done anything on an origin stage or anything like that (which is what you'd expect for someone who would be attracting that sort of figure)

all the hype around Milford is just that, hype

I don't believe it's a money issue myself, if it was about money he would of taken it by now.. 1 million dollars is 1 million dollars, there's not that much to consider if it's simply about money

Yep.
For us, either he'll stay and we've kept one of the games best young talents. Or he leaves, we will hopefully get to see Ahearn/Cornish into the side and we're got a lot of money to throw at some players to improve our team.

Either way, it will be good for the club and its fans to be able to move on with its plans one way or the other. Round 13 can not come quickly enough.

Who cares about Origin? Clubs pay players to perform at club level. Milford does that at a very high level. Yes, he's got his flaws (lackadaisical kick returns, below average fullback defensively) but his positives are so great that he's worth the amount rumoured for him.

If Milf backflips for the cash, I will have literally nothing to say about it. After all the noise he made about it being about his father, if he does that, I don't want him at our club.
