The backrow problem. What to do?

The backs in my view are fine, its the forwards which is the sore point. Buchanan, Woods and Ava have all been impressive and they are free of criticism.

Fulton is good value and worth retaining, as he will eventually become a good defensive benchie, maybe even by next season.

I'd be cutting Thompson, Pettybourne, Anasta and Blair and go and buy two quality back rowers who can bend the line and make an impact in defence. Bukuya from Sharks, Symonds from Manly as examples.

With Galloway, BMM and Bell (possibly even Groat) to throw in the mix, it would give us a little bit of depth until the young forwards get a crack, which we have a few of coming through I believe.

It would be nice to pinch a few players from Manly and Cronulla. :)

Anasta sadly offers nothing in the back row. Lets see if he offers something in the halves. If the answer is no, drop him. He will ask for a release in no time.

Parra look to have signed Tolman.

Why aren't we talking to players like that?

Exactly. WT have never been seen to be pro-active in recruitment opportunities. Why is this is? It just cant be McDonnell- it has to be restrictions put on. But by whom?

Anyone hearing about the Martin Kennedy or George Rose signings? Aparently one or both could be at our club by years end, possibly as early as next week.

Martin Kennedy can play, would be a great signing. Don't want a bar of Ross though.

Anasta at seven is a bandaide solution that might give us some short term relief but bite us on the bum long term.

We did not have the cattle or the talent to play one forward short each week and with Anasta in the backrow thats what was happening. Also like with all of our other so called better players he was never going to get dropped no matter how badly he flopped so Miller ended up the fall guy and if this experiment fails their will be another fall guy and it will not be Anasta.

I dont blame Anasta, it was just another hair brain call by Sheens. How could a coach who is good enough to coach Australia get his recruitment so wrong?????

How hard can it be to coach Australia???? You are handed the best players in the land who all know their jobs (or they should).................walk in the park if you ask me.....just my opinion

Sadly for Tigers fans, Anasta is far more ineffective in the halves than in the back row. Seems impossible, but its true. You'll see.

YOU may be right, but at least the forward pack will be much stronger and at present that is probably our no1 priority. Really they could have shifted Moltzen to 7 and Teddy to1 and Anasta to reserve grade, but that was never going to happen either. Its a case of finding a job for Benji and Braith each week and shuffling the deck chairs

If that is the case, drop him to park football. He will either retire or ask for a release, there is no way Anasta will see out his contract.
