John's Magic - that was a good article. Good to see a bigger union supporting a smaller union for a change. Even if there are ulterior motives.

It sounds like BOP will at worst loose NPC competition points but will keep the shield until next weekend at least.

Under 10,000 (about 7000 of them were BOP supporters) for the holy grail of new zealand rugby, Aucklanders deserved to be snubbed of a second Lions match.
Utter pathetic

I was there. And if you don't believe me...

As TV says, thats still a piss-poor showing for a place the size of Auckland. Hell, the Warriors crowds look about that big and they're at the arse end of the table with nothing but pride to play for.
If the game had been played at the International Stadium in Rotorua it would've been packed.

yes good old fashioned neighbourhood rivalry with the Bay up against the Mooloos at the Mount.

Bugga having to work, it'll be an awesome atmosphere.
Please Mooloos don't win, we can't let Auckland get a sniff of winning it again next weekend..

Go the Chiefs, I mean go the Bay!!!

i for one felt pretty weak and sick after watching auckland lose the shield. i was bitter was BOP, but I got over it. I didn't want to see it go to Waikato, and I sure as hell hope they can they can see off Canterbury next week. Go the Bay

I would be surprised IF BOP hold on to the shield this week. The Cantabs will not be under estimating what the BOP team can do. Also the Cantabs have had a shocker start to the season and will want to change that this week with the Bay.

Personaly I would love to see the BOP hold onto it until the Wellington game.

great to see one of the smaller unions getting up
have plenty ever won it before?

a match between hawke's bay and wairarapa [before the bush!] for the ranfurly,
way back when didn't change hands because of a 'residential breach"

hopefully there is no drama
