The benefits of injury

There are 9 week to go until the finals. HAving fresh players going into the finals is a massive advantage. Coming back into the team will be Adam Macdougall this week, Dan Tolar soon as well as Mcmanus. Steve Simpson has played very little football this year and will be fresh going into the finals. Cory Paterson has just come back into the team and should be hitting peak form come finals time. It's unlikely but Ben Cross and Ciraldo may come back around finals time also. There is also the posibility of having a very fresh Cooper Vuna if the knights allow him to play.

The knights also have another bye coming up and 5 of their next 8 games at home. Of the 3 away games one of them is against manly at the central coast which increases our chances of winning. The game in canberra hapens in late August, so we don't have to worry about playing canberra on a freezing night like previous years. The other away game is against parra. They r hot and cold, so hopefully the boys can get over the top of them.

You and your injury threads :p

Nah things are looking good for us in terms of the draw and players coming back, if we are really going to consolidate on our regular patches of good form this season there is no reason why we shouldn't win at least 5-6 of the last 8 games we play in the regular season.

Also last year we played Canberra in Canberra during the day (i think it was the 2pm timeslot) :)

I'll be the Devils advocate its a killer as these players will have no match fitness, need a few games to get their timing confidence back ect ect, and having players who arent a 100% in must win games which is every week for us if we wont to be in the top 4 is a liability.

The only injured player we can't win finals matches without is Dureau.

The haters can spew all the bile they like, but we are a shot at making an impact in the finals if Dureau comes back and plays at his previous best or better - and if he doesn't we will just be making up the numbers if we make the 8.

Every other player can be covered as individuals, but, of course, 4 or 5 injuries and we are rooted.

I'd rather have players coming into the team and finding their way, than to have a team full of players carrying niggling injuries.

I'd rather not experience a Ben Cross like return from injury in a big game like the one he played against the Broncos at EAS last season in his first game back...

I'll take the niggles over that kinda return anyday.

hahaha

It actually says on the little update article on the Knights website that Dureau is likely to play his first game for Macquarie this season...so who knows what is going to happen!

Saw him on TV last night at training, and he was doing a bit with Mullen, wouldn't surprise if Smith reverts back to having all three in the side.

Macquarie is my tip.

I dont have any inside info, just looking at the way the bench was used yesterday.

I agree.

In a game like Raiders, sometimes composure is more required than game breaking.

Catch and pass is the basic for a halfback. Catch and pass made Joey who he was, obvoiusly catch and pass beautifully to put players through holes etc! Yeah I would not mind watching Duearu catching and passing throughout the whole game even if he doesnt give a try assist or line break assist. All I feel he has to do is guide the play in the right direction, help spread the ball one wider of the ruck when hitting the ball up, give good early ball to Mullen and maybe put couple of good kicks in that find the grass, not always go for 40/20s etc. Isnt that all he really has to do?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Ok Yosh.

Joey never busted tackles or stepped past defenders and scored individual tries or anything?

What about defensively ( a facet everyone likes to overlook too regularly )? Was that someone else other than Joey picking up second rowers and dumping them on their ass?

No one expects Dureau to be Joey Johns, but it sure would be nice if he can reach the level to be picked regularly at NRL level
