The Biting Issue

I don't recall seeing any footage of Proctor actually closing his jaw/biting down on Johnson. If anything, possibly more like 'conveniently' leaving his teeth exposed near Johnson's arm, but since when has it been an offence to open your mouth? I'm no Sideshow fan, but if that was a Sharkie being charged I know I'd like to see more conclusive evidence of an actual bite.

I don't pay much attention to Braith and the cohort of other ex-player/commentators, not the most erudite or best-educated bunch of 'experts' I can imagine.

Of course, I could be wrong. Discuss.

Looked to me like the skin was being pulled, hence a bite.

Would have had no issue if it was a Shark charged for that, and would go so far as to say if it was Fifita or Gal instead of Proctor they would be hung drawn and quarted by all media pundits.

I think at the time Johnson said "he bit me" replay showed his arm in his mouth . I think it was correct to send off under that circumstances and correct to make a fuss about it to send message to kiddies ... Dont Bite !
However as John Gibbs pointed out on ABC far more dangerous things are let off with no penalty or light penalty . So if theres no actual chunk out of his arm and Johnson doesnt persue it ( I didnt see Proctor Chewing and swallowing ) Probably leave it at that.

Yeah - I would not be upset if the judiciary deems that the penalty already given is sufficient.

I am one of those people who simply cannot breathe though their noses, and it is very scary when you can’t breathe!!!

The footage which Ch9 is conveniently never showing is as PJ said was there was a clear pulling of the skin seen. That’s likely what the bunker would have deemed sufficient to justify a penalty and send off.

I dont reckon a bites the lowest act on the field. Far from it.
Id rather someone took a chunk on my arm then slid in knees first into my kidneys as lm scoring a meaty.
Ask alex mckinnon would he rather cam smith go the fang or spear him to the ground head first.

Actually most things smith does with twisting opposition limbs is worse.

Can't agree on that one.
Shaun did enough to make the ref stop the game and said he was bitten.
That there is the complaint.
You can't leave a bite on the field. It is the lowest act you can do.
Maybe so, but the whole thing is like an episode of the Simpson’s.

SJ is Bart and we all know who Proctor is

Didn’t look that bad, but my mind might be effected from binging “Hannibal” on Netflix.
I remember back in the day the old warehouse Chris Beattie got done for biting someone’s hand and was a pretty poor suspension, I think he got 2 weeks??? I remember blocker roach jumped to Beatties defence “ well what was the idiots fingers doing in his mouth anyway”

Rugby league us a strange old game. Old Mal and Gordie lead the defence and both are on Titans staff. Their message should be ignored but now plenty share the view.

Johnson has hold of Prictors shoulder with arm across the face. This happens many, many time a game. The skin stretched in the footage. It wasn't a full pressure bite like Tyson. I suspect Proctor was putting it on an old mate to wind him up and it went a bit far.

It’s quite unbelievable really.

I made a point in the NRL forum that if they keep repeating the same narrative that it will soon be accepted as fact.

Here we are despite pretty clear evidence that something happened.

There was a clear reaction from Johnson (Gould has been saying that he didn’t react which is just a straight out lie) and the ref saw Johnson’s arm straight afterwards.

The mental gymnastics is mind boggling. It might not have been the deepest bite, but to pretend nothing happened is bizarre.

Frenzy.

I heard that as "Sir he bit him". Someone else.

Not sure this is clear enough but I think that's what was said.
