i believe it was Wally Lewis at the Gold Coast whatevertheywerecalledthens. For the Roos it was Provan (where such a role was traditional)

And he did it before the off field measures that f**ked the factions off and stabilised the worst front office in the game...we were a basket case when he took over, we literally had him and Dave Fa'alogo's punching bag as the applicants for a job that was basically career death at the time.

He may never win a premiership or take a roster to the next level, who knows... but he built the roster old mate refers to as a gun roster, and out of the worst Parra era just about ever to boot. Even the haters don't deny that he built us up from absolute shit.

Yeah, I completely agree.

As I said, it's very comparable to Ivan and his time at the Warriors. We weren't quite wooden spooners when he inherited Tony Kemp's/Mick Watson's mess, but we were bottom dwellers. Took us to the point where we were perennial finalists, but it wasn't enough for the owners. And now he's a premiership coach like many of us thought he would be, while we're absolutely f**ked.

11 years later we're still suffering badly. The grass definitely isn't always greener.
