The Brad Arthur Myth...

What I like about Arthur was the attitude that he had when he took on the job.

Maybe Parramatta still has areas to improve but they have certainly looked more resolute with him as the coach.

What are you lol'ing at? What would your club know about premierships in the last 30 years?

Pressure will be mounting... You have the Warriors away and Bunnies at home. You may only have 1 win after 4 rounds. Keeping in mind you missed the finals last year in a rather poor way. He needs success or you might end up with Kearney back... That's what I heard reported.

Even more lol

Kearney will never be a first grade coach again

I think it's the level of honesty that Arthur gives the players tht people like about him. He seems like a good bloke too. Straight down the line wouldn't give you false hope.

I think he's shown hes a good man manager with the way he ha improved how Sandow plays and even Norman this season so far

But it's too early to say he's a great coach. But with such a short off season last year he turned the boys attitudes around very quickly.

Will be interesting to see where we are come round 10

Agree, he's made a Hayne-less Eels look pretty good.

I'd do a swap with the Eels in a heartbeat!

I don't rate Arthur as a coach. He reminds me of Bellamy without all of the toys. He might get you to the finals, perhaps a semi. I'm doubtful he will get you a premiership.

As for the concept of players wanting to follow him. Have you ever worked at a place where management are fighting constantly? If somebody in your team leaves, don't you wish you could too? Especially if they are good to work with.

While I don't know if Arthur will win a comp with the eels or if he is even a decent coach but he has had success where ever he has gone:

- he started coaching Batemans bay at 22 and took them from near last to the finals
- he took Cairns brothers to 6 GF for 4 wins
- he won under 20's Comp with Storm.

You don't successfully captain coach in country footy as 20 year old if you aren't a dam good man manager/coach
You also rarely see a coach without ever playing NRL footy work their way up from country footy to NRL country if you are shit ( plenty of fringe NRL players have coaching success not never playing NRL is rare)

have you SEEN the parramatta board? :sarcasm:

Exactly. I mean how long is it until the Parramatta AGM? When it happens watch it be all over the media.

It is being mentioned by a number of rugby league media scribes that there is a faction on the board who want Daniel Anderson re-instated as First Grade Coach and want Arthur given the boot.

Parramatta are about as stable as the San Andreas Fault.

While we have made some incredibly ludicrous decisions as a club in recent years, all those new rumours could only be bullshit. Media is stirring up shit because they love to talk about us.
An upcoming Parra AGM or board election is like gold to them.

I hope you are right. The Anderson rumour thought I have heard said by a few non-News Ltd pundits so that is why I think it has some legs regretfully.

I'm no Parra supporter but I don't like seeing the crap that has gone on there continue. For the good of the code if nothing else.

you'd hope he'd have been successful his whole career, most rookie /inexperienced coaches are, the nrl is after all the summit of a rugby league coaching career

I love the mocking nickname that Manly fans have given The Dalai Arthur but I am 83% sure it will blow up in our faces. Oh well...

Manly has a truckload of problems that can be tracked down to a particularly rotund gentleman and a player with a very chequered rap sheet early on in his career for troublemaking. (To the extent that he had his origin papers stamped 'never again' for a time) The board was too busy slinging shit at each other to deal with it.

I can understand why players would want to leave that environment.
Is P Peters too obvious? Maybe Peter P for greater anonymity

Probably deserves a bump.

The Eels are hopeless and so inconsistent.

Good bloke though, that Arthur guy.

well as long as the coaches continue to get the blame it allows the players to live in their own world with no responsibility for their performances.
