The Case for Adelaide.....

NRL got rid of South Sydney then brought back South Sydney. Got rid of GC then brought back GC. Got rid of Crushers (bris 2) and brought back Dolphins (bris 2). Got rid of Western Reds and North Sydney Bears, now bringing back both as 1.

May as well bring back the Rams too. And forget Brisbane 3, how about Newcastle 2? Hunter Mariners come on down!

The game is just getting back to what it was almost 30 years ago.

Gotta say, the 2020s so far feel like some kinda alt-universe version of the 1990s... expansion to all those areas plus the Panthers dynasty that could've happened off the back of that 1991 Premiership.

Crushers brand along with that of rams & reds don't mean anything. It was Dolphins brand actually being revived to top flight comp.

1990's were all about plastic teams. Bears & Dolphins are expansion but with link to tradition.

Well the game is as popular as ever in most states, including SA.
Australia still has the problem of having the most professional sports teams per capita than anywhere else in the world.
Some consideration needs to be given to what happens when dollars dry up, because across all sports it’s getting very competitive for the sponsorship and fan dollars.

There's 92 professional soccer clubs in england. Don't know where you get your stats?!

No case for Adelaide.

The NRL is not about to make the same mistake the AFL made when it added GCS/GWS.

You could argue that in time the Tasmanian AFL team will also be a money pit, wait and see on that one.

Adelaide will be a money Pit for the NRL.

No thanks.

with the grant now all clubs have to do to be sustainable is have a mediocre fanbase attendance and a decent sponsorship portfolio. No reason Adelaide couldn't achieve those things.

No reason they can’t ..but you have seen yourself first hand the journey that is required for a non heartland team to get in…

Even in the end it took the State Premier badgering PVL and promising infrastructure to get them across the line ..Adelaide is a long way from that mindset I suspect

I’m not against having a team in Adelaide …but I can’t see them in the competition for minimum 15 years

Nor can I, not because they couldn’t be but because RL remains a myopic sport run by people who lack any great vision.
