The Corey Norman scandal thread

NRL player on drugs charges and alleged to have knowingly taken money outside the salary cap. Even if it's not true or not his wrongdoing, I reckon he's got enough on his plate that could end his career or put it on hold for a good while.

With semi gone to French rugby and Hayne signing with the Roosters Parra's season looks like it might be unraveling.

Media is truth. This is all the Go5's fault I imagine...

Hayne is not going to Roosters, its either Parra or Pokemon GO

Just with the Pearce video - no mention of the person who filmed it. Unless there was something illegal, it is no ones business. And the media dont comment on the person who filmed it and is now trying to make a quid

Gutter journalism that I would expect from Weidler but Liam Cox is just as bad as Danny

Parramatta's season from hell has plunged to yet another low after claims two sex tapes involving star Corey Norman are being shopped to media outlets.

The Seven Network reported that two video clips, both involving Norman, are being sold for up to $150,000 to various television stations in a scandalous extortion attempt.

One clip reportedly shows the Eels five-eighth in a room where others are allegedly using illicit drugs but Norman himself does not partake.

The other video reportedly shows Norman in a room with former Penrith hooker James Segeyaro and a naked woman.

There is no suggestion of any illegal activity from Norman or Segeyaro.

'The club has been made aware of the alleged issue regarding Corey Norman this afternoon,' an Eels spokesperson told AAP.

'We will undertake an internal investigation and provide a report to the NRL integrity unit.'

The revelations come just two days before the former Brisbane player is due to appear in court on two drug charges stemming from a May night at The Star casino in Sydney.

Both Norman and Segeyaro, together with former Parramatta prop Junior Paulo, were later issued with warnings by organised crime squad detectives for consorting with criminals on the night in question.

Norman, who is currently in discussions to remain with the club once his contract expires at the end of the season, has been a shining light for the Eels on the field in 2016.

The 25-year-old enjoyed arguably his best performance of the year in last Friday's win over the Sydney Roosters, where he set up four tries in a man-of-the-match effort.

Segeyaro was a roommate of Norman's before making his Super League debut with Leeds last weekend after being let go by Penrith in a player swap involving English international Zak Hardaker.

Eels icon Peter Sterling doesn't think Norman has done anything wrong.

'Maybe you've got to put a question mark over the company he's keeping,' Sterling said on Triple M.

'But if he hasn't done anything wrong I don't see what he's got to answer for unless we learn more.'

Former league star Andrew Johns was upset by the extortion bid.

'This could destroy him. Why don't they publicly shame the person giving up Norman? This is the rank world we live in. It makes me sick to my stomach,' Johns said.

Love the quote from Andrew Johns

Were smartphones around when he played ?

As much as I like to have a laugh at Parra and their incompetence, I agree with this post 100%. Unless something is illegal, what Corey Norman does behind closed doors is his business.
What I find worse is the low prick trying to get $150 000 from media outlets for the video. Any media who pays for the video should be shamed as well. This sort of practice should actually be a crime. I would not be surprised if his so-called biker friends are responsible for this as some kind of extortion.

In regards to Corey Norman, while he did not seem to do anything illegal in this case, his recent behaviour is sailing very close towards career damaging. He needs to watch the company that he keeps and lay very low.

Finally, yet another reminder for NRL players. For the privilege to play in a game that can set them up financially for life, they really need to consider all of their actions and pretend that a camera is on them 24 hours a day (in reality, this is pretty much the case). NRL players are public figures who represent a brand and need to behave in a way that that doesn't discredit it.

Amusing that people think this will affect his career. Parra need him and will resign him regardless. If he pleads, or is found guilty on the possession charge, he'll get a few game suspension, and then get rewarded with a hefty new contract.

But, why in hell would he want to put it at risk?

We have to wait for good news to be certain as opposed to bad news being possible, maybe it's because the former only sells to those care whereas the latter sells to everyone. It's a great feeling to be one who refuses to pay to be informed

Aren't the media aiding and abetting a crime, ie, an extortion attempt.

Wonder how'd they act/react if the video star was Karl Stefanovic or David Koch in this situation?

As he should. He is a terrific player who is getting better every year.
