I wonder of the great dick Andrew Johns will take a paycut to help his cash strapped club out.

WTF, why the hell should a player NOT INVOLVED in the incident even consider coughing up cash. This has nothing to do with Joey.

Because the Knights were fined $100k, they don't have a major sponsor at all, nor do they have a leagues club.
In short they are running on empty, and he is earning over half a million dollars, from a club that paid him a fortune to sit on the bench for most of the last 2 seasons. It's about loyalty, and charity. The guy also has a weekly column in the Sunday telegraph, for God's sake, I would give a helping hand to a club that my name is synonomous with if I were him.

Kudos to the Knights and the NRL for a number of reasons:

1. The Knights paraded these morons for all to see, identifying them and effectively removing the taint from those Knights players who were not involved. Something the cheats refused to do.
2. The Knights sacked the player responsible for the worst actions, a clear warning to not only their players, but NRL players and especially rookies in general. Something the cheats failed to do.
3. The NRL fined the club itself even though the Knights have spent $$$$ educating and informing their players. Again it sends a clear message to all the clubs, you are responsible for your players!
4. The entire incident was handled quickly and effectively in the space of 48 hours, ending speculation and supersition.

Whilst I still can't believe these "men" were this galactically stupid, I'm glad to see that clubs and the NRL are making their actions speak louder than the media's words.

Chook.

There have been rumours of dumb behavoiour from Newcastle players for many years. Maybe if the club had pulled the players head in years ago this wouldnt have happened.

Yeah I do remember a plane trip incident a season or two ago coming back from North Queensland, but there is only so much a club can and should do.

These are suppose to be grown men after all and making them directly responsible for their own actions is the only way to discourage this from happening again.

Chook.

Credit should go to the knights fo acting quickly, Unlike the rabbel out at Belmore.

Loser. The fact is here, it was proven straight off; The Bulldogs couldn't act until the investigation was completed

The Admin of The Knights and all the NRL clubs had 12 months to learn how to best handle these situations if they were unfortunately put into them. The Bulldogs had no experience or precedent on how to handle it and it showed in the way some things were done. They didn't handle it well but I am sure they would not do it the same way again if put into that position.

Well done to the Knights club for resolving so quickly. Credit must be given where it is due and they did the right thing in this instance. Thankfully club admins have been able to learn a lot over the last 12 months, while unfortunately some of the players have completely failed to do so.

Hadn't there been sexual assault allegations against the Bulldogs 12 months earlier?

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,12329768-2,00.html

March 2003: Woman accuses Bulldogs rugby league players of sexual assault claiming she had consensual intercourse with one player at a Coffs Harbour hotel but was awoken having sex with a different player, while a third player watched. No charges laid

Yes but there was no media circus rolling on for that one. If you read my post I am well aware that they did not handle it well, but part of that reason is because no club had such a media frenzy over this sort of thing before, and while I think the world of Steve Mortimer, he was probably not experienced enough to deal with it well.

If (heaven forbid) it ever happened again then I am confident that my club and any NRL club would handle it much better than was the case with The Dogs last year.
