If we're going to do it, we have to do AC/DC. It's a lot tougher but here goes - and unlike most people I'm a huge fan of the Brian Johnson era above the Bon Scott era so all 5 are coming from post-1980.

1) Let Me Put My Love Into You
2) Who Made Who
3) For Those About to Rock
4) Are You Ready
5) Sink the Pink

Other songs that could have easily made the list:

Shake Your Foundations
Danger
Kissin Dynamite
Moneytalks
Let's Make It
Shot of Love
Ballbreaker
Mistress for Christmas
TNT

I can't do overall, can only do post and pre Bon.

For the record, Bon > Brian.

74-79

* Riff Raff

* Bad Boy Boogie

* Let There Be Rock

* High Voltage

* TNT

Thats missing ALOT of quality. Some absolute killers off HTH,LTBR and Powerage that didn't make it.

80-current

* Back In Black

* Shook Me All Night Long

* Stiff Upper Lip

* Shoot To Thrill

* Have A Drink On Me/Thunderstruck

I disregard anything inbetween FTATR and TRE. It's all rubbish, thats coming from your hardest core AC/DC fan.

I think a ten greatest would be alot easier tbh.

Overall it waas a lean period for sure, but I'd still rate tracks like Sink the Pink, Heatseeker and Who Made Who as great somgs, there was just a lot of filler. AC/DC never changed their style enough (at all) to turn to complete crap at any point.

The influence of Mutt Lange though, just listen to the production of anything within that era compared to any of the Vander/Young material. IMO Mutt directed them in a much more "commercial" approach. The over dubbing and over production is nothing like the pre 80 or post 90 AC/DC, when the guys used Vander/Young

Their style never changed, but thank christ christ they're back working under Vander/Young.

Heatseaker and Who Made Who are the only credible tracks inbetween 82-90.

I thought the production on Fly on the Wall was pretty raw actually, although I'd agree with your comment in regards to the other albums, a bit too much polish genrally.

FOTW * shudder*

I've listened to it two, maybe three times.

I actually rather like that album, although it still has a lot of filler on it basically all the good stuff's on side one so at least you can just change CDs after track 5! Admittedly though thats probably largely because it was the first AC/DC album I bought (when I was about 12) so it has some sentimantal attachment.

By the way FOTW wasn't produced by Mutt Lange, the Young brothers self produced it, which is probably why it doen't have the Mutt Gloss on it (still not a as good as the Vada/Young stuff though I'll admit).

Danger is a top song!

Its the heaviest I ever seen angus young, when I say that I mean, his hair is so long and he looks total metal in that clip.

Completely disagree.

I think the production on the early Bon albums is awful, especially TNT and Let There Be Rock. It's muddy and inconsistent from track to track.
Having said that, Powerage (the last Vanda/Young album from that era) is superb. Brutal guitar sound and chest-caving drums. Although, I reckon Mark Opitz (engineer) might have had a lot to do with that.

Mutt Lange picked up where Powerage left off and took their sound to another level. I don't think any of the 3 albums he produced sound 'polished' at all.
Highway To Hell through a good sound system is still one of the most powerful listening experiences in rock music, Back In Black speaks for itself and For Those About To Rock is hugely under-rated.

I'll admit Mutt wasn't afraid of piling on the cheese (Foreigner - 4, Def Leppard - Hysteria) but I thought his AC/DC output was awesome at worst.
