I think it's an optical illusion mate.

They would have 3D modelling that would have an unobstructed view.

You could always become friends with Taumalolo's Mum and Dad and watch the games from their new 3 bedroom apartment on the 6th floor of Gal Tower No3.

Isn't the plan to do an extension of the Under Cover Stand on the other side?
My understanding was that they are joining the E.t stand to the Monty Porter stand and incorporating a centre of excellence underneath with a 50/50 contribution from the government on the centre of excellence.

I would just like to put these links here.

"
In the case of Southern Expansion they are eyeing off redevelopment of an existing stadium in Wollongong and potentially building a new one in Sutherland.

"A boutique stadium in the centre of the region, in the Sutherland Shire, makes sense," CEO Chris Gardiner said.

"The case made strongly by Football South Coast is that we should include the redevelopment of the whole WIN Stadium precinct, and we want to explore that option with Wollongong Council.

So...
this alleged a league team wasn't to build a stadium in Sutherland.
if its 25-30k brand new and covered areas etc....

we should probably look at moving

buuuut

I doubt this thing gets built.

Thoughts?

I have always thought the afl/league fields at sutho was the perfect spot for a stadium.

I live in the area and supported the original development but these extra additions are taking the piss and the thing is too big for the area now. Until the council comes to the party and increases parking at railway stations, improves the surrounding roads and builds more schools it won't get my support.

And it's not just the Sharks either. There is a big development (hundreds of units) on the old site of Carinbah H.S, around the corner on Dianella Street and the old brick pit at Kirrawee will host 900 more units. The surrounding infrastructure does not exist to support all these extra residents.

I don't blame the Sharks I blame council.

And yes, we should be getting ground upgrades out of all this.

What is the current numbers to fill up Shark Park. I hate watching the League or any sport when they are played in 3/4 empty huge stadiums.

Packing out a suburban ground every week is a lot better atmosphere. And the road the league is going down will see a lot of empty stadiums in the future I believe.

Fix up Shark Park and make it our fortress. Get a full house of 16 -18 thousand every home game would be sweet as.

I would also encourage you to write to Lyall Gorman and tell him if you are disappointed that with all the work going on we dont get a stadium upgrade.

ground improvements in the original plan were all to be funded by the club yeah and not part of the development?

I think we need to look into getting a centre of excellence or whatever but also, get talking with the FFA to gain more GOVT money.

get that new a league club playing at shark park, or get involved with their new thing

and I agree, the infrastructure and parking doesn't makes it all a bit much

But you voted for it. This is nothing compared to other parts of Sydney. Over development is killing this city. The traffic congestion is destroying people's attitudes and lifestyle. The shire has escaped the Chinese ghettos so far.Wait till you see the plans they have for Miranda.
