Here’s the place for all your off season doom and gloom. Get around all your coach comparisons, player sackings etc. At least it can stay out of all the other threads.

Think of it as your own little fiefdom, Messiah and co.

Great idea, Hope it gets used by anyone wanting to vent with negative fears over off season without overwhelming their own and others positive hopes and observation for the future.

My greatest fear is 1.the NRL, and Media. Will the power brokers in these organizations be able to put aside their own club links and biases and make reasonable calls. Sharks have turned things around financially and are a very marketable club compared to some of the more traditional ones. They have makings of a strong team with good depth. Need some help regarding State of the stadium.

2 While injuries can kill any clubs' chances, I still think the side needs another 1 or 2 Middles, preferably experienced but on the younger side. I know, I know ... None are available, no room under cap, can bring them through the juniors (How long?) ...etc....

3. Q.S.' posts make sense, but we have Fitz now, I think he's done well . Don't think he is effective enough in the pre-game media releases designed to point out concerns on refereeing.

If Fitz had worn a suit throughout the season instead of a tracksuit we would have won more games and been in the preliminary final.

If Nicho had use a blue kicking tee instead of a green one, his goal kicking % would have been a lot higher this season.

Had we installed four more floodlights, there would have been 12% less Sharks knock ons.

Had the Club installed a larger TV screen in HD Nicho wouldn't have had to run his hands through his hair so he would of kicked better.

If Jesse had gone to the Optometrist at the beginning of the year, he wouldn't be cross eyed and make silly errors.

Is this what we are looking for?

Thats irrelevant! The real problem here is the availability of tin foil hats ,and lets put blame squarely where it belongs! Feej ! My own has several holes in it , But do you think I can find a reliable supplier to order a new one ?

I’ll get onto it ASAP. I’m heading out next week to take a look at a couple on new suppliers in Vietnam and the Phillipines.

Apparently they’ve made some breakthroughs with Teflon infused foil, so any arguments against the wearers conspiracy theories just slide right off.

Perfect for the off season.

I'll go against the grain here a bit but in keeping with the doom and gloom title.

Mario Fenech, horrible stories coming out about his dementia and made worse by digging up the past as to somehow, I dont really know, blame, shift some of that pain onto others to make it burdensome on some of his former Footy Show compares?
Anyway, I guess some of us have to take a bit of a reality pill in terms of what the game was back in younger days to what it is now and realise maybe, we're not as tough as what we thought we were.,
I wish Mario all the best and all players that have suffered from the neurological disorders because they excelled in a contact sport.

I can remember at time thinking they went too far , but that Mario must have been on board with it, and smart to be taking the money and run . He was a Qualified electrician , obviously not the village idiot. Played a tough game and paying consequences now. Hope all those guys are reconciled with it all . Taking the mickey can be fun and funny but sometimes need to consider the consequences a bit more. I am guilty as much as anyone in that respect

I love Mario but he was always there as comic relief that’s what his media career was built on.
He played the village clown and got paid well to do it.
He didn’t like it but a jobs a job, he tried hard to shake the part and be taken serious but without being the but of jokes he wouldn’t have lasted in the media.

That was the part I always found incongruous - if you don’t like it and you’re not good at it, why do it?!?

I actually wonder if the mental illness was already a part of his life then…

Let’s call it for what it was. We’re talking about a show that used to send Robbo/Beau out into the street to lampoon the homeless, alcoholics and mentally disabled people in lower socioeconomic area’s for laughing and pointing at. Hardly any high standards set for coming down off the top of the moral high ground mountain, to defend yourself.

I agree that Mario knew he was always gunna cop it (said so himself on many episodes). What has happened to him is the terrible after effects of hard and fast sporting entertainment, where the bi-product of the entertainment comes from heavy collision with/to the head.

In not just Rugby League (Union, AFL, Boxing, NFL, NHL, MMA/UFC etc) there may be many lawsuits to come in the years ahead. Class actions even.
