Well, like night follows day and flatulence follows a large helping of beans, the summer is waning, the pies are being warmed up (only to be sold to you cold) and men are wearing tight shorts into the icy depths of winter, so the footy must be back!
Which brings us to the most contentious issue of the season kickoff:
Not the selection debate of Lowrie/Mateo, Reddy/Inu or T Smith/Galbraith...
Not the pleas that the season is too long or that one day a player is going to die! in this March heat...
No, the key issue as we return our thoughts to balls shaped like eggs (footballs, I mean) is the Peter Wynn's advertising slogan.
This slogan has been a point of interest for me over the last few years. You know the one: If you drive past the railway underpasses in Parramatta you'll see the bright yellow Peter Wynn's Score ads, with Wynn shouting a rhyming couplet of encouragement for his beloved Eels.
Recent examples have included:
- Eels will do the trick in 2006 (meh)
- Eels will thrive in 2005 (had to be done)
...and so on.
This thread is for your suggestions for '07.
Some of mine:
- Eels will eat devon in 2007 (we could do a sponsorship tie-in of some sort with the Processed Meat Industry)
- Eels will be in Heaven in 2007 (kinda cool, unless you take it literally)
- Eels'll deck 'em in 2007 (a little working class for my tastes)
- Eels will bring it home like Michael Bevan in 2007 (a little long, a little dated, a little obscure)
- Eels to win seven in 2007 (a little pessimistic)
Over to you. Let's come up with something that will inspire players and fans alike (my money's on the Devon one).
