Not specifically Footy Show related, more channel 9 related.... I heard Tim Gilbert this morning more or less having a go at Des Hasler for his comments about the disruption that Origin causes the NRL and how the scheduling needs to be fixed... Gilbert said words to the effect that Des has to get used to it and that it's the same for every club... well done Tim, trot out the company line no matter how incorrect it is...

It is is clearly NOT the same level playing field for all clubs at this time of year - The Raiders didn't lose any players to Origin 1 (Papalii called in for Game II). The Storm and Cowboys have to play at least 1 NRL match without their best players, the Dogs were decimated with 5 Origin reps unavailable yesterday. Panthers haven't had to play without guys called away for Origin duty...

Guaranteed if Gilbert worked for a broadcaster that didn't have the Origin TV rights he'd be humming a different tune. Such an annoying person he's morphed in to...

I don't get how the draw works for origin, souths have to play in all the rounds leading up to origin without our origin players ( this year it's only Inglis and his a huge part of our team, but when the draw came out,guys like walker, johnston, reynolds, keary and McQueen were considerations for origin). Yet at the same time some teams have received 2 buys leading upto origin

He hasn't morphed into anything. He's the same as he's always been.

I'm sorry Penrith had origin reps? They're just crippled with injuries.

Origin scheduling will always have people arguing about it and will never be perfect. Stand-alone for 3 consecutive weeks with the remaining players contesting 9's tournaments in different locations (Perth, country NSW, country QLD) for another trophy would be the ideal setup, as it bloods the fringe first graders in games that don't actually matter to the season as a whole and prevents sides losing games due to a lack of talent (Storm, Roosters etc.)

Don't coaches get to put requests in as to whether they'd prefer to get their byes before or after origin?
