Say whatever you want to about that wretched sport; their GF show (and footy show in general) craps all over the NRL one. You can see the amount of planning, work and effort that has gone into it since they started hosting it at the Rod Laver Arena, making the NRL version look like a bunch of random nuffies who have been picked off the street with a couple of hours before showtime

Well, Ch9 only have themselves to blame.

Before Fox Sports poached Matty at the end of 2011 when his Ch7 contract was up, Ch9 had the chance to start afresh on The Footy Show after very low ratings during 2010-11 (even dropping below 100k in Sydney in a couple of occasions. Wittyfan can help me confirm the numbers), but they wanted to retain Fatty (whilst having Slats as a co-host) and now they are reaping what they have sowed as a result of that. Yes, Fatty will ALWAYS be The Footy Show (in terms of his identity), but he is well and truly past his useby date and without Sterlo by his side, doesn't have what it takes to carry the show anymore.

And chosing Molan as co-host was one of the worst decisions management has ever made. Her meteoric rise in such a short time from only being on the panel for one or two segments only two years ago, to being made a permanent pannelist last year, to now being co-host this year is somewhat unfathomable. Yep, the all time low was 98k in Sydney on the 14th April, 2011. Next worst was 110k on the 14th August, 2008.

Yvonne should have been the co-host if they really wanted a female co-host on the show. Odd how they don't let Erin near sideline commentary or on the footy confidential show, you know, ones where knowledge is required. She plugs her look-a-likes and reaffirms her fangirlness for the Raiders.

The show hasn't been the same since Sterlo and Chief left. It's overpumped attempted humour, with that cheat dog Beau Ryan still flailing about with his wretched routine. Small talk is the only interesting bit and even that's getting predictable.

Matty Johns show is head and shoulders above it. I loathe Ikin and Kent but their 360 shows are above the Footy Show. If they actually discussed football and did in-depth game reviews and previews then they may actually renew interest in the program. Less skits and pandering to celebrities as well.

In all honesty when Sterlo did his hour-long chat with Fatty it was amazing. The structure of the show limits what he can do and you can tell it frustrates him. With Gyngell no longer in charge you'd hope that the show can be restored to at least be watchable. Yvonne Sampson must be promoted to the panel if they want to be legitimate because Molan cannot cut it without reading from a script or trying to feign banter with other panelists.

How to fix the show:
* Less comedy skits
* Less plugging betting options
* Discuss the upcoming fixtures in depth (~3 minutes each).
* Ample round review with perhaps a Footy Show player of the year system in play
* Insights into all the clubs similar to the origin camps
