According to Gus we're building nicely for the future. Thoughts?

From what I've seen this year, There have been some good signs that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I do have 3 concerns though:

1) The lack of size up front
2) The coaching situation (I hope Mary proves me wrong)
3) The home ground split (I will always be in favour of a 6-6 split between Kogarah and Wollongong)

I think we have a 2-3yr window with this current team and recruitment is crucial to keeping us consistently in the 8. I agree with Gus we are heading in the right direction and not far off a roster that can be contenders. A shame we had to hit rock bottom 1st

If Gus loves us so much, why doesn't he take on a similar role with us to what he is doing at penrif? Or at the very least, recommend someone.

Still think its a good idea for Mary to have a confidant next to him, especially for important games like this Friday night. Bennett used to have massey. Mary needs someone in the similar mould. Someone old who is no threat to his job.

Despite my desire to neck myself at the news of McGregor being signed for 3, I think things are looking up.

As long as the club keeps going after these big boppers they are supposedly after, we are going in the right direction.

It appears Mary's assistants next year will be the same as this years: Milward, Hornby and Young. Was Dean Young on the sideline yesterday taking over from his dad's role?? I'm sure he was up next to Mary in the coaches box. Fingers crossed Albert is no where near the coaching team.

It would be a conflict of interest for Gus to hold that role with us and the Panthers I think. Although I dont have it in for Doust as much as most people I still think he needs someone like a Gould to guide him as he doesnt seem to have the vision to look too far ahead in the last few years

Saints have a very bright future. They also said during the game that Saints have one of the best backlines and that is so true. All they need is a couple of front rowers.

The on field team might be showing signs of improving but the club/management are a joke.
We have been red v members for over 10 years, we have seats against the fence just to the side of the visitors bench. For the last 2 years there has been speakers placed on the grass about 5m from the fence. There are approx 4 lots of speakers from the one end of the field to the other. The 2 sets closest to both benches are raised which impedes our viewing of the game at certain times. We have complained about this and they were lowered for one game then returned to the same way for the next.
On Sunday not only were they still raised but they were approx 1-2m from the fence, our group and people around us went of their heads. We all sent emails to the club and went on social media complaining. The dragons finally sent someone down during the game to speak to us, at which point we were told they could not do anything about it on the day. We were also told that the reason they have been there for the last 2 years is that the speakers in the grandstand broke and have not been fixed.
This club is so incompetent that they can not get some speakers in the grandstand fixed so instead they will treat their red v members like sh.t

Gus is right, there's a lot to be positive about. The fact that our season is still alive with 2 rounds to go is extremely positive given how Price left us. We've had no stability in the side at all this year with question marks over the halves, prop and most importantly the coach.

We have good players in our team, and that's why we are winning games, mainly through individual brilliance. I'm still not sold if its so much to do with Mary as a coach, but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

As many of you have said, I'm not sure if Mary was the right choice, but the decision to sign a coach for 3 years was the right one. Hopefully, he now was licence to build this team and refrain from the short sighted, quick win decisions that were part of Price's reign. He has the all the ingredients there, plus guys like Bird and Dufty which hopefully get fast tracked into the side much like Brooks and Moses at the Tigers.

The goal should be build combinations and get the team playing as one. I haven't seen evidence of this in 3 years now. (Have a look at side like Manly...this is what I mean about playing as a unit) We may not necessarily win the comp next year, but if he plays his cards right and we do get a couple of forwards and plus some experience for our boom rookies (Dufty and Bird) we should give 2016 a real shake.

All part of the grand plan to ruin the experience of going to kogarah , and to make us all think that moving games away from our home is the right approach.
Things might look on the up on the field but until Doust is removed there will always be a poison in the background killing the club from the inside...

A lot hinges on our 1/6/7 imo.. to actually be a consistent enough side, and under pressure..

o Benji/Widdop both promising, but both very inconsistent, 2015 really comes back to whether they step up next year. I kind of wish we had a young superstar to develop.. but these 2 will have to do us until someone puts their hand up in the cutters.. and they both bring leadership.

o Our Fullback.. no idea who its going to be, I guess we will watch Beale play a few more games and figure it out.. I dont really rate him any more than Quinlan (who is far less experienced), and Dufty is probably 1-2yrs away from getting a look-in, Dugan is seemingly a centre now.. so not sure where that leaves us in this department. Even Mata'utai looks great at fullback, but hes really fresh-faced still, and would have plenty of development to do... oh and Runciman was a fullback too at some point.. anywho.
