I can't believe so many people are putting such faith in the Dally M awards. Hodgson won fullback of the year, whoop de do. Doesn't mean he should make the test team necessarily, and doesn't mean he's the best fullback in the comp.

Look at it this way... In 2003, if the Dally M's had gone ahead, Clinton Schifcofske would have won the fullback of the year, and was close to winning the whole bloody thing. Does that make him the best fullback in the comp? No, it just means he had a great year.

Minicheillo is a better fullback than Hodgson, deal with it. Thurston won the over all Dally M and halback of the year, does that make him better than Johns?

He has not been consistent throughout his whole career.

He had a poor second half of 2002 and a poor 2003 in teams whose confidence was shot.

You go back to 98/99....pathetic magpies teams sure, and Brett was a the best of a sad lot, but he didnt have great yrs (great is a strong word).

I didn't say he was great in those years, but I was there for every home game and he was damn good in teams that are arguably two of the worst of all time.

Mini and brett and different fullbacks...totally different, but IMO i think Mini is the better custodian. You think otherwise...it is a debate that is going to go nowhere as you wont change my mind and i know you wont change yours.

Hodgeson was sublime for Parra in 01-02. Brilliant - had a blinder in the second half of the GF - and possibly one if the top 5 Origin performances in a blue jumper in his Origin debut.

Spot on....Hodgson was clearly better than Mini in the competition that they both competed in and against one another.

wow, one origin game...yeah he must be the best of all time then huh. I guess the same could be said of Paul Hauff in 1991. He had three good games that yr...went on to play for Australia.

I also remember Hodgson being thrown into row 34 by Tallis in game three....never played origin again (prob wont either)

Hodgson was 10-12m in from the sideline and was dragged like a sheep ( a sheep prob weighs more) to the sidelines. Never happened in the past 20 yrs.

I can't believe some of the WT fans on this site. You cannot give credit to anyone else but your own.

Every one agrees that Hodgo had a fantastic year and is the type of player that every club needs a real Mr 100% all the time.

But when a guy like Mini gets the accolades he deserves you blokes blow up like a second hand lawnmower.

Like it or not Mini has the award has been the best player in all forms of the game and is only getting better. I too think the Dally M awards are a joke accross the Board not just one or too awards. They are not picked on form most awards are a popularity contest.

Someone else in another thread said that Morley may be a chance to win. How can this be when he couldn't even get nominated for prop of the year in the NLR dally M awards.

Not surprising ....Never has such a player played above his weight in origin, would take some balls I'd imagine to line up week in week out when even the halfbacks are giants compared to yourself.
