Short sightedness
A version of self-interest that sees a new club in Brisbane as something that undermines their profitability. Typical monopolistic thinking, right?

The thing is.. I'm not sure that mindset has changed with the addition of the Dolphins.

Despite the "it grows the game in Brisbane and the Broncos benefit too" angle you advance, the Broncos long running position has been that competition undermines them - and viewed through THAT filter on reality, of course they're gonna need a sweetener to get their support.

This is laughable. You think the Broncos are hating the boosted crowds underpinned by huge derby crowds against the Phins, Titans, Cowboys and SEQ Storm (lol)? They are booming because of the game's expansion in SEQ. I think waiting a decade is fine but The Jets add yet another big derby match to the roster and the Broncos, Phins and Tits will probably welcome it
do you actually follow League? the Titans were against the Dolphins and the Broncos didn't want another Brisbane team for decades.

This is way too overplayed on here. The Broncos have little power outside of their single vote as a shareholder of the game.

As if a struggling club like the titans don't want more local content, as if the Dolphins don't want to grow their crowds and interest with more local content.

Yeah, but do you think after the positive effects the Phins have had on the local scene they wouldn't want more local content?
Certainly down the track but not so soon. There is no way the Dolphins or Titans want another SEQLD team in the next 5-7 years. Also too many derbies and you start to dilute the event... Just look at Sydney.

Agreed, I wouldn't want it until 2032 at the earliest and I would stop at Ipswich. 4 SEQ teams is the right balance of growth and oversaturation

19.1k against a low drawing Sydney team on a Thursday isn’t bad by any stretch. Broncos were getting 20-22k crowds in similar circumstances not that long ago.
