I think maybe a lot of SL support is older folks, the crowd shrink as they die out or start forgetting what day it is ect . They're resistant to any change that isn't in the form of simply bringing back their glory days.. like the Bradford Bulls for example.I think it's trolling. Won't explicitly say they hate idea of NRL taking over but are so negative. Silly little game they play.
A change in governance will most certainly see change to appeal to a younger demographic that are willing to embrace new things, you can't really grow your audience by appealing to much over 30's in all honesty.
It can't grow in Manchester?? Not really, not if you're targeting the same boomer age group that against such a move..
If you're starting a new fresh franchise, good advertising, social media like tick tok , Instagram ect, a splash of star power and you're away!
If you're trying to woo some 50 year old Salford local.. that won't happen but his kids and grandkids - definitely and eventually they'll pull Grandpa out of the house to a game.
There's a lot of history in England around sports and there's this mentality that new sports teams can't ever make it but then the NFL comes to town...
I just think it's a waste of time trying to explain how things can work in 2026 to people still holding onto 1976
