The halves conundrum

I agree but unfortunantly Timmy was never going anywhere but either the Titans or the Broncos (via one of their feeder clubs). Other clubs approached him but were knocked back due to their locations, or more accuratly their lack of proximity to his family.

Any others?

by itself, no.

with the whole package chucked in? yeah, possibly.

if we snagged thurston, once he left us we'd be left in yet another "post-star-halfback" rebuilding phase. there's also no guarentee he'd deliver us a premiership... because he hasn't been able to do so at the cowgirls yet.

I guess that's just where we differ. I am not saying your opinon is stupid or whatever (you'll probably think mine is) but I'd rather throw everything I have to win that premiership and go barren for 10 years, then have 10 years where we are a dominant team but never really win anything...

What about JT? I hate QLDs as much as the next guy to post in here but he is a quality halfback, best in the comp if you ask me. Does it hurt to throw 500k at him next year? I mean I'd rather throw 500k and take the gamble rather than do nothing and win nothing for the next 5 to 10 years...

no way.. id rather take a gamble, save 500,000 and keep dureau. If hes made into a fulltime halfback he will get better, its just because of that d***head Brian Smith kept on rotating the halves combination around these past couple of years and he hasnt even had a full year to prove himself.

Plus, I'd rather have a halfback from the Hunter who's never won a premiership then a halfback from QLD who's never won a premiership (except wen he came off the bench for the dogs in 2004 when steve price was injured).

I reckon we'll see Scotty outplaying JT when the Knights & Cowboys play sometime this year.

remember when practically everyone that the 6 and 7 would be mullen and Tod Carney. Now thats a player that we missed seems to be getting his act together now would have been an asset. Though as there is no real solution for this season Scott really needs to learn how to defend (small men can defend) if not unpredicatable rogers it is.

Mate they call me crazy, but your just outta this world mate!!! I'd be surprised if Dureau becomes half the player Thurston is (and if you check my posts from last year I WAS a huge Dureau fan, but as fickle as anyone else in here I am no longer) I'll be happy to have my share of humble pie (is that the phrase?)!!

Holy thread resurrection Batman.
Who do we pick now with Milford in the mix?
We have way too many half halves.
I reckon it'll be Clune and Milford.
Or possibly run Milford off the bench but that will disrupt a dummy half break for Randall.
Whatever the options we need to settle on something and keep it.

Clune is steady but doesn't really do anything at a particularly high level. I know there's this belief in an organising half and Clune probably resembles that the most but I really did not like alot of our 5th tackle options or shape in attack so im not sure on how much having Clune as the so called organising half actually benefits the team.

Compared to Ponga organising the team, I’d say it’s a positive.

7 Clune, 6 Milford, 13 Thompson, 14 Mann (ugh).

I reckon AOB will start Mann and he has a thing for Crossland. Thompson might be on the outer.
I agree with Clune. He's the best of what we've got.

i think that goes without saying but when/if he makes himself where does he fit in?
I’m sure O’Brien will go back to his main Mann at 13 despite all evidence contrary to success. As much as I detest that set up, it leaves;
7 Clune,
6 Clifford,
14 Milford,
903 Crossland.

You will look much better when Jayden is back, he is an organising dummy-half.

Your backup/makshift hookers are runners who shovel - poorly - to the limited halves.

The halves will benefit with the stability and direction he will bring.

our halves in order of ability/experience are , Milford, Cliff, Clune, daylight .......daylight , Hoy solar system, galaxy Crossland.

If Cliff can get himself mentally right for mine the halves are 7- Milf + 6- Cliff
