The Henry hype

Well we all know there has been a lot of hype about how we're going to be a much better side next year with Elliott gone and Henry in charge, even with the mass exodus of experience we're undergoing.

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of North Queensland winning 3 out of 17 or whatever......

If rumours are to believed I dont think coaching has much to do with their problems

So was I, and so was Phil Gould last week.

Just because the players' perception of Elliot is very favourable, it doesn't meant that Henry will not do a better job.

Neil Henry is an excellent choice..as is his assistant Mick Crawley. The Raiders will have a very good team again next season..a team built on pace. You should be very excited...

The only doubt I've got of Henry atm is that he has a surname that is usually recognised as a first name ... not much we can do about that I suppose.

haha i was actually thinking along the same lines..the old saying of "never trust someone with two first names".
Who knows...it'll probably be a plus next year instead of a minus!

as said by someone else
if the rumors are to be believed the coaching is the LEAST of the cowboys issues... Henry is well regarded by alot of main stay league experts, granted that doesnt say much given there the same clowns who pegged us for a certain spoon this year, but those who have worked with Henry have nothing but praise for him, from his current club staff and players to well respected QLD leagueies...

Im very confident under neil henry we will be a far superior team, simply because his style will suit our playing roster alot better

Henry will have a squad with much more potential then Elliot has had. It would be dissapointing if he didnt get better results.

ill say yes.

because everyone here is so sure he will turn us into the 94 raiders excitment machine.

and im unsure how the players will feel..Matty isnt seen as a good coach to alot of you guys but the players seem to like him alot...its probably his greatest trait, has the team playing for one another.

playing for each other ?? ... more like playing with each other :)lol: , boyo I've still got it)

err hello, have you just missed out on 5 years of Elliottism ... what I've seen in that time are a most inconsistent bunch of footballers.

I for one am expecting Henry to turn us into the '94 raiders excitment machine ... the difference between my thinking and others is that I wont expect it to happen in one season.

Funny that the Henry backlash has already started when there hasnt really been much hype about him at all.

Yet you want Ricky Stuart to coach us.

Neil Henry's signing was strongly endorsed by Mal Meninga..who had him on board as assistant coach of the QLD SOO team..

It would seem to me people are taking it as a given that he will be a far better coach than Elliott. Am I not supposed to question that??? Especially when these people are the ones who rate Stuart as the best in the game.

I can't wait for next year...

"Dobson must play"..."we need Dobson"...."Henry's holiding young players back"..... Week after bloody week.

And thus, the cycle continues.

henry will be OK, but I doubt he'll be as good a coach, at least initially, as Elliot.

That's all good and well, but Mal and Neil are good mates aren't they?

Of course he is going to endorse his mate, who he obviously has a high opinion of.

I look forward to a different style of play next year. And I mean really look forward to it. We've finally started to play with a bit of width in the back half of this season, at last. Rather ironic really, just as Elliott leaves...

Elliott does have a rep for getting the players to work for each other. But I wonder sometimes if this is a bit overblown? After all if the boys all loved each that much and loved the team why have we lost quite so many players over the last 5 years? And Elliott's psychological preparation of the team for a match against anyone we're expected to beat quite clearly sucks.
