The infamous 4 chord pop song. For example:

D A Bm G

or

C G Am F

Lets see how many songs we can list that contain this chord progression.
To begin with:

Let It Be - The Beatles
With or Without You - U2
Am I Not Pretty Enough - Kasey Chambers
Happy Ending - Mika
No One - Alicia Keys
Where Is the Love - Black Eyed Peas
Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson
Can You Feel the Love Tonight - Elton John
High - Lighthouse Family
Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Torn - Natalie Imbruglia
One Last Breath - Creed
Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson
Scar - Missy Higgins
Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne
Land Down Under - Men At Work
Don't Stop Believing - Journey
Amazing - Alex Llyod
She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5
Crash and Burn - Savage Garden

Some variants where it starts halfway through the progression and then repeats:
It's My Life - Bon Jovi
Snow Hey Oh - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Some iconic songs so far but mostly pure pop crap. Anyone got any others?

my favourite songs always start off on E or Eminor, love the sound, then maybe hit a C and then D, that progression is still my favourite. Songs tht start of with E and utilise C and D re songs like Paranoid, Poison by Cooper, Fire by Van Halen.......bar chords offcourse.

The C, G, Am, F is common, however i've noticed many artists doing Am, C and G or D, Dmin (or D sus), C and G.

Anyway good topic.

The most under-rated progression imo is E, F, C and D, love the sound of it, and always sounds good on personal songs rather then poppy tunes.
