I'm known to exercise hyperbole from time to time. lol. You wouldn't think it, but I do have a lot of time for JT and have grown a lot more respect for him after learning how solid he is off-field, too. He is the best half running around, although I'm surprised to see how long it's taking him to adapt to 5/8th again... as I've always thought of him as a natural 5/8th playing halfback by necessity. I thought he would slot straight in there and maybe even go up a level. I suppose you get into a routine and it takes a while to break it. Not that he's going busted, just quiet I suppose.
Regardless, he might be in a battle to make the bench in the "greatest QLD origin team", or even the greatest origin team period at a stretch as some sort of super sub. You couldn't blame him only playing 1/4-1/2 a game if that's all he was on the field for. I definitely wouldn't have him as the halfback, though. Langer for mine if you want to talk entire origin career, and of course I'm probably going to pick Johns if you want to talk "at their peak" sort of stuff. to be honest, that's not the criteria I would use for the thread. I'm comfortable that Johns was the best footballer I've ever seen play, but that isn't to say he scoops the pool of accolades in every department, and it's an argument that's been truly done to death and doesn't need continuation here. Langer had a stellar origin career... and was topped off with one of my favourite (in retrospect... not at the time) Rugby League fairytales at the end. I LOVE "Cometh the hour, cometh the man" type moments, and when a player rises to it you can't help but sit back and applaud... even when you're on the wrong end of the stick. That for me is a true champion defining quality, the ability to rise above an occasion with your back firmly pressed against the wall.
