The kicking game.

The last two weeks have really shown up the weakness in our kicking game. Short and long. This is where we miss the BBQ the most. Chads efforts last night were poor. Moylans not much better, we missed Wade lot.The week before, again poor.

Can we send a S.O.S. to a specialist halves coach, one of the Johns brothers. We need to do some work around this stuff, other clubs get the specialists in, I fear it is too late for this year, but geez some restarts would be nice, maybe even a 40/20?or a Ennis like satb from dummy half.Or a banana kick? Not a punt to a unmarked opposition player for a 7 tackle restart

IMO the word hate to describe the Chad is poor form, keep it constructive send a question to Flanno via Sharkcast this week. Come up with a plan besides " sack everyone".

Get a halves coach in for the run to the finals, work on the short kicking game mainly, look for restarts to build pressure, keep the ball on the deck and not in the air, dont bomb the same wing MOST OF THE TIME like last night and last week. Can Brails kick out of dummy half?

OH yeah, and goal kicking.

They have a halves coach in J Dymock who brought his non existent wiz bang attacking plays from the dogs. They also have had Noddy in making sure Chad's inside passes to forwards are on fire

Chad's just got to get rid of the ball as fast as he can to Lewis, Moylan or Wade.no dummies no trying to go through non existent gaps no shallow bombs. That's when they win

Yeah I thought about Dymock, then moved on.
Bring in someone for the last month and a bit,
Fresh eyes, different thoughts, maybe some skills.

Matty Johns claims he mentors halves for free. Seems to have worked well for Melbourne.

It is such an obvious weakness in this this team that specialist coaching is needed. Our attack with the ball is pedestrian and the kicking game isn't creating much either.

With Wade out is really limits the options. Moyza has an ok spiral bomb but that's it. Chad is doing the bulk of the kicking and he just seems really low on confidence. Need something different to lift Chad coming into the big games

To be honest, I’m a chad fan & think a lot of the hate is unwarranted...but last time we dropped him (hooked him), it paid off the very next week.

He might need some sideline time to get his head together.

Agree with all of this.

Traditionally, Townsend has one of the best short kicking games in the comp, so it's not like he can't do it. Maybe some more options would help.

When we had Maloney, Graham and Ennis all very good at short kicking also, opposition defence couldn't just worry about one kicker.

We can't help Graham being out so much (I think we'd be in the top two this year if Graham and Lewis played mist the season, so we aren't doing too badly). But Moylan and Brailey could definitely offer more support.

Moylan kicked a beauty for Holmes earlier this year, so we know he can do it too.

We aren't playing badly, and we have had a bad run this year with injuries. Even so, a little more would be nice and our attack does need to improve if we want to win the whole thing

understand where you are coming from SL.
however one guy has won a gf and the other has played for his country and state.
they should know how to kick a football by now.
if not, go back to reserve grade and practice.

Seggy?

Couple of nice dinks each game.

Growing consensus amongst certain commentators is that he needs to spend more time on the park if we are to threaten.
With Brailey on at the same time.

If we have a shyte kicking game the blame firmly rests with Flanno.

He should’ve given Maloney the upgrade he deserved and should have been shopping Townsend around instead.

When the big games come around Townsend fails. We saw how he was hooked against Canberra in the Semi in 2016. He was our half back in our Premiership year yet wasn’t in the top 6 of players in any of our finals appearances. He has regressed ever since then. Maybe because Maloney made him look half decent?

Anyway Flanno has had all year to sort out the teams kicking game and it’s only a pass mark at this stage. Pass mark won’t win a Premiership. It has to change big time if we are to be in the hunt in the big games against the big teams that lie ahead.

Out played by Townsend?

Hahaha!!

I guess that’s why Maloney gets picked for NSW and Townsend picks his nose.

He was outplayed by him last year, or at least on par.

If Maloney didn't have his name he would have been dumped to reserves. Absolute merkin of a bloke.

I think what bugs me most about Chad is the lack of variation/innovation with his bombs. Its clear that theres different ways to put a bomb up these days and fullbacks are struggling with them. Why isn't Chad keeping up? Im sure I saw him do one spiral bomb this season but its not enough.
