Well…. Who’d have thought, PVL is replicating methods that are tried and tested in the racing world to make money from the US gaming market - and looks like it will be through a company that has links to existing NRL partners in sportsbet and Fox….
Now, let me think again, should I trust in PVL and his proven business acumen in this area, or should I believe the PVL haters (who are also part-time television rights, commercial negotiations and gaming market experts) who say Vegas is all just a junket and PVL hasn’t a clue…. Hmmmm difficult choice.

There was that one gimp who opened an account purely to say he was an expert on the us gaming market and pvl had no chance of cracking it

Vegas F1 this week.

Qualifying Midnight Friday local time - 7.00pm Sat night Sydney time

Race 10pm Sat night - 5.00pm Sunday Sydney time...

Seems they do watch late night sport over there

No one reads anything anymore, the article says that PVL is hoping to show the game free on the gambling app. That's not such an amazing outcome

Seems like they are catering to the European TV market not the US one.

Probably best to actually wait for it to have happened before stating that it got a lot of viewers.

Also, Vegas is not like the rest of the US and makes up .2% of the population.

Oh and Europe is F1's most important market. This is clearly designed to benefit them.

I interpret the ‘show the game free on the gambling app’ as that people who are using the App don’t have to pay to watch it, but the owners of the gambling App will be paying the NRL for the right to show the games on their App.
The owners of the App want live content for people to bet on… they want that live content only available on their App, so that people who fancy a bet on live sport have to go to their App… And unlike horse racing, which pretty much all looks exactly the same, RL is an entertaining game with lots of different wagering options - all things that will appeal to both the gamblers and the bookmaker.
So, NRL let gambling company stream games on their App (for a fee), gambling app customers watch the game for free on the App, but throw plenty of money down the drain gambling on said App….
Maybe people do read after all, but some people have trouble interpreting what they’re reading correctly…..

This is what would be getting negotiated, and it's pretty similar to what the likes of the NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL, etc have negotiated here.

Fox Sports US will retain primary broadcast rights, WatchNRL will have secondary broadcast rights, and most likely one of the Flutter brands will pay for exclusive gambling app rights. The NRL will get a fee for these rights, how they are calculated may vary from a flat fee, to consumption based, but the NRL won't just give it away (nor needs to).

Just like Unibet, TAB, Sportingbet, etc, the end user won't have to pay anything. From an NRL perspective, it means the game is more accessible to more people, and is more likely to help get pushed by a betting agency.

Any Updates how ticket sales are going?
So far I'm hearing the double header have only been snapped by Aussie expats from the US and fans from OZ. So the question is, are we going to attract Americans to our game? Or are they only interested in sports that are only American? Maybe they should get off their fat ass and watch a real man's sport with no helmets and no body armour. I'm sure if they did their eyes will pop out, how tough our game is.
I was going to go, but after @Canard posted, I'm heading to a North Carolina carpark for 3 days instead. Anyone need two tickets to the footy?

Personally I'm so excited to see Reece Walsh with his newly plucked and sculpted eyebrows for Las Vegas game and what color nail polish Mam has specially chosen for this event. Hope it at least matches the luggage or the jersey.

People laughed at PVL when he said he could make the Everest the richest race in Australia ...and he did.

People laughed at PVL when he said he could get 20k people at Randwick paying to watch the Melbourne Cup on a big screen..and he did.

Let's hope he can be half as successful with his ambitious goals for the NRL in the USA.

What money are they likely to pay the NRL to stream NRL?

Let's be realistic here?

It seems we think that people only have to catch a glimpse of our sport, and suddenly the dollars will flow? Isn't that a bit ignorant?

Wouldn't we be laughing our arses off at other codes for suggesting this?

Going to the US purely to court gambling companies doesn't seem to be in the games best interests.

For the uneducated on here, can you explain why the games in Vegas are a bad idea and what the NRL should be doing instead ?
- Invest money in the grassroots
- Make our sport truly national
- More school development officers
- Actually advertise our game in Australia, not just in LV
- Stadia upgrades
- Long term investments
