I'll LOL of the combine ends up like that show that lasted one season- NRL Rookie. Was hyped up, show was actually dope and the f**khead broke his leg before he even played a game...

Is there? In any significant number? Can you give examples, not just one or two, but ten or twenty at any one time?

At the top level very very few kids who've played the game all their life make it, to think someone can switch at 20plus and because they are very fit/strong and can develop the skills and game day nous at the top level in a year or two is extremely optimistic id suggest.

I am struggling to think of any other the sporadic rare case, and many of them were exposed to the other sport at earlier life in some way.

so like I siad one off occurrences. Sure the NRL in Vegas may unearth one or two players, great. but will it unearth dozens of other athelets who can make it in NRL? highly unlikely. Hasnt happened in any other sport that I can see.

SBW and Folau? Even between the rugbys where the skill sets are by far the most comparable there are very few who switch in adulthood and make a success of it.

No it doesnt happen very often at all in adulthood. The fact you can only come up with a handful across mutliple sports globally over many years would suggest not.

Again we arent talking about kids playing multiple sports, inc Rl at jnrs and then switching later. USA kids arent playing Rl full stop. we are talking about athletes from totally different sports becoming NRL pros in adulthood. Good luck with that!

Like said Vegas is about gambling money and maybe by some miracle a bit of tv interest. Everything else is just candy apple wrapping.
Firstly, nobody ever claimed that it would unearth dozens of athletes. That's not the purpose of combines. That fact doesn't mean that they aren't a worthwhile endeavour, especially when they are just about the only realistic option for the sport to scout talent in most countries.

Secondly, the fact that those guys were the first to pop into my head is irrelevant (BTW SBW and Folau did far more than just jump between RL and RU). There're literally thousands of examples of athletes swapping sports at a high level in the modern day and age, and you don't get to arbitrarily dictate that that occurring at a younger age, like the high school or collage level in America, is meaningless. Getting to a position where you have to choose whether you want a scholarship to play either e.g. basketball or football is a hell of an achievement, and it's occurring more and more often.

Finally, I just gave you half a dozen examples of guys who swapped sports, most of them multiple times, we both know that I could easily come up with plenty more, so what's the point? We both know you're off base on this one, you just don't want to admit it.

Birth rate has been in decline for decades, so no surprise juniors pool is srinking.
RL's decline in participation doesn't match the drop in the birth rate, and you'd expect to see a similar decline in all sports participation if it was being caused solely by birth rates, which you don't.

There are many reports about sport in general declining mainly amongst Teenagers

I'm so excited that the NRL is taking games to Fiji, and Las Vegas this year, and on top of that the WCC in England and the season ahead, that I've been getting wet dreams thinking about it. Bring it on!!
