Who is typing in ‘Rugby America’ after the event when we have garnered their attention? And what are they trying to find?
Well Im guessing they watched a game the perceive as being called 'rugby' and having enjoyed the vegas games decide to search for more info or viewing or even playing opportunities.

Well if they watch one or both of the games (which, by the way is a huge success) and come away from that thinking that they should search for more information about it (again, a measure of success) but type in ‘rugby America’ (rather than any of NRL, Vegas, Warriors, Sharks, Panthers, Raider or a multitude of other words that are more likely having just watched two hours of coverage of our sport headlined by Australian commentators and would lead them to sites about the event actually going on) then that would be a bad outcome.

they've already claimed it. For the last 20 years we allowed them to drop union and just use Rugby. The world now perceives 'Rugby' as Rugby union. the battle is lost, accept defeat and regroup.
And by the way we did the same thing in WW2, remember Dunkirk? Know when you're beaten, retreat, regroup and come back stronger.
What a quitter. Union is barely recognised on the world sporting landscape. You might have a point if it had reached the level of Basketball

So you agree that the names should be recognisable, memorable and searchable (so, the need to be unique)

Just not the brand of the sport itself…..?

and you think it is better that people should go searching based on club names?

Those that are interested to know, know. Those that aren't interested aren't our target market anyway

“If you are confused about our confusing brand, f**k you we don’t even want you”

I think the problem in the debate is that you lot cant get your head out of your own ass and imagine it from someone who has NEVER seen a second of the game.

“Ohhh, nah we dont want them. They arent real fans”

I love people who want to put up barriers to entry into our game.

Yeh! Imagine a new company comes out (in a saturated market) and puts out an ad saying “whats our name? We’re not going to tell, YOU have to figure it out…”

i imagine the great majority would say “f*ck it, there are lime 5 others who are fine…”

That guy is going to be in for a shock when he finds out searching 'Vegas Raiders' doesn't come up with a whole lot of NRL results.

Any Australian sports fan knows that the NFL and CFL are similar but different sports. I know Americans generally aren't that bright but they'll easily be educated
