If you hadn`t noticed we are in a code war in this country competing for the best young talent. The fumbles attempted to lure Tom Trbojevic, Stephen Chrichton, amongst others when they were young. And we continually see the union mob spruiking their international profile.
Anything that that convinces young sportspeople to stick with our code, maybe even give it a go in non-traditional states is a positive side benefit and worth mentioning as far as I`m concerned.
Wb1234 made a claim that the ARL could make $20m from the event. I asked him to simply justify how he came up with that figure. Does Wb1234 know something we don't? Is he privy to the ARL's books and can share it with the rest of us?

You mention a code war which I agree with you. However, what is the relevance to the 20m? Or are you trying to deflect as you know it's just a made up figure?

I see that Wb1234 has responded in the thread since I posed the question and was happy to say that he doubts the event costs 7m and how long people would stay for and spend but can't answer a simple question of how he came up with the 20m figure.

He earlier said there would be 40k people spending 10k each meaning it would generate 400m for Vegas and then said 5k is a lowball spend for 2 weeks per person. I don't know about you, but it just seems that he is making up numbers.

I think I read somewhere they are already getting money from the Las Vegas events authority
You're correct, the LVCVA is currently contributing to the event, though I don't imagine its huge numbers as the deal was negotiated before the first game.

The NRL is in a better position to get a deal more around the numbers events like the National Rodeo & Mint400 by the fact they are bringing in new visitors (not just selling to people who were already in Vegas).

As long as the money spent is in proportion I'm not sure why it's so hard to believe. It costs money to make money.
0.1% of the LVCVA budget spend is? Im sure they'll continue to support it, any extra tourism is good for them. But its tiny in the overall tourist numbers.
Wb just likes making outrageous claims on stuff with no logic behind it and gets the hump when hes asked to justify his opinions.

Asking for five percent of the revenue the event generates for lv would be perfectly reasonable to me

I was thinking they could ask for ten percent

Other American cities could bid for it next time

The event is proving to be way more succeful than people like you thought

The Initial payment by the lv will have been speculative

After five year they will have firm numbers as will Pvl

5% revenue wouldnt be much in the grand scheme of things.

Pretty sure there were tickets for like 15 bucks

All those people thinking they are going to watch the all blacks will be pleasantly surprised
yep. 3rd tier behind sticks are $29 Aus.
3rd tier up ranges from $209 for side to $49 for corners to $29 behind sticks.

Mate @Wb1234 is just throwing a figure out there to start a debate, which it did and which might not even be beyond the realms of possibility if this thing takes off. But either way I wouldn`t get too het up about anything posted on here and you questioning any projections is within your rights and adds constructively to the debate.
With regards my post, I mention that because it is hard to put monetary values on somethings, yet monetary value certainly exists and is worth mentioning. All good.
