What did you expect after two years that it would be a big sport in America ??? lol

Getting 50k people watching rugby league in America is a huge achievement

Even 60k watching on Foxsports in America is a great result

What’s the alternative ?

Have the season launch as taking a photo with the nrl captains of the harbour bridge then Canberra v warriors in Canberra then sharks v Penrith at shark park

Lots of people are talking about rugby league. Many who have never heard of the sport before

All the social media it’s getting will be seen by millions and millions
"50k people watching rugby league" is that not already majority people who already watch the game - expats, travellers and officials/media? The actual number of new people in the US being exposed to rugby league - while probably notable - leads where? I'd argue the Las Vegas 9s etc are probably more beneficial for the growth of the game in that country.

60k on Fox in America is great, hopefully that can grow this year yeah.

The last two paragraphs sound like they're coming straight out of the mouth of a politician who's already been discussed ad infititum in this thread - "lots of people", "many who have", "millions and millions".

Got to start somewhere

No other Aussie sport could pull this off thats for sure

And down the track the benefits could be enormous in terms of growing the game in America to making tens of millions off it

Short term goal is to get it sold out each year like magic

Involving pommie teams was a master stroke

Toronto Wolfpack showed what’s possible in the North American market

Hmm some strange takes on here by those bagging the Vegas launch.
"bagging" fair dinkum 😂

I already said I don't have beef with Vegas, and I think it'll be great to see my club there next year. I'm talking about how it can be improved and how perhaps if we stopped celebrating vague things about it and got a bit more serious about how this actually grows the game then we might get somewhere.

More stuff straight from the mouth of the aforementioned inferred politician. No actual stats or links to them.

It's great to speculate but you're pre-empting success and to date I have not seen a single critique of the concept or execution. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that you or anyone could think there is nothing that could be done to improve upon it.

Fair but we don’t need to be overly critical either and be a bit realistic. We’re not going to get tens of thousands of Americans knocking down the door to watch nrl from day 1 when they know nothing about it.

I see this Vegas launch having many more success criteria than just having Americans adopt nrl as a sport they watch.

Seriously what did you expect after one year

Millions of Americans fans to wake up and say wow what a sport and a pro league to evolve

The people on the ground in America like David nui are thrilled with this promotion

As a way to launch the season it’s brilliant

There's a difference between "not being overly critical" and deepthroating every single thing the chairman of the game does and offering zero critique whatsoever

Why is it sublime or ridiculous? I'm talking about building the game, not an overnight result of millions or billions. Settle down.

Yeh what did you expect after one year ?

The event is costing them nothing.

Why belittle 60k ratings in America ?

Watchnrl got more subsections too

Heck one of the nrl clubs think it was the sharks got an investor out of it

I literally said why do you have to go from sublime to ridiculous.

I never expected anything after one year, I didn't say anything either way. You're inventing stuff out of thin air to have a go at me about. I didn't even belittle 60k ratings in America, I literally agreed it's good and hope we build on it.

Are you actually reading what people reply to you with or just trotting out the same rubbish every post?

So other than 60k in local tv ratings and 10k locals coming to watch what other things did you expect lol

And why ignore the record tv ratings at home ?

This event willl see around an extra 500k people watching it around the world how’s that not relevant ?

If a league super rugby or afl tried this they would fall flat on their face

I've been pretty clear and consistent despite your gish galloping that I'm asking how this best grows the game. I've also said I think the Vegas 9s are a good idea for the growth of the game, that kind of grassroots stuff will do more.

What do you mean ignore? You said they happened, sure... am I supposed to construct a shrine to PVL for them? I don't understand what I have to say about them.

Never said it wasn't.
If a league super rugby or afl tried this they would fall flat on their face
This is an unprovable and pointless thing to say and just comes across as another attempt to lionise PVL.

You can take the disaster that was China as an example. Or Wellington.

A league and super rugby magic rounds were a disaster nobody would watch a round in America

They’ve been talking about hosting a game in Vegas for around ten years

Pvl made it happen and it’s exceeded anybody’s expectations … except you lol

There was a nines event held there too did you miss that ?

In terms of growing the game in America given the limited funds the nrl has to spend it’s been brilliant

“Having NRL matches played on US soil was not only a fantastic event, as it fuels our joint desire of growing popularity and recognition of rugby league in our country, but it has already opened up conversations with players interested in joining a club and drawn inquires on starting new clubs in the United States."

Lol

You've just proved you don't read what is said to you. I've brought up the Vegas 9s twice in this discussion and suggested it's a fantastic initiative.

"Lol"

"Lol"

So the idea for the Vegas nines wasn’t Pvl lol

And why ignore the comments from the usarl how it’s helped grow their game

You’re blinded by a dislike of Pvl that’s how it comes across

Certainly not factual at all

This event has helped grow the grassroots and amateur game in America and that’s coming from people actually on the ground

You haven’t pointed out any negatives or what they should be doing differently in America and why the current approach isn’t a good one
