Next year they are going to have to add another SL game you feel. Most of the neutrals would have probably gone frst two years so that novelty had worn off. I suspect it’s a once and done for most given the cost.
bulldogs, wests, cowboys, dragons gives us a good aussie fanbase
hull kr, Leeds, st Helen’s, Leigh will give a strong English fanbase

Las Vegas is not on my radar if I ever travel to the US. And I wouldn't be the only one with that view

So the people travelling to see the games have to be interested in league and Vegas. I think the overseas crowd contingent isn't the problem, it's getting more Americans there.

Whereas the entire intention appears to have been how to get more people to travel.

4 games only appeals to getting more fans to travel as locals aren't going to sit around for 9 hrs.

Putting the Raiders vs Warriors as the game for US FTA only helps NZ TV ratings as it was always likely to be the worse of the 2 NRL games. It's not going to help get more Americans there next year.

I'm surprised they didn't name 50K. Compared to last year, there were a lot more tickets sold and a lot more bays filled in areas like level 3.

Anyway, whilst it didn't quite hit the heights we all wanted, there were still plenty of positives.

Firstly revenue was a lot higher this year, where the NRL was offloading tickers with 2 for 1, 50% off and even 4 for 1 deals last year, this year the base price moved from $19 to $29, there were no crazy offers and more corporates were sold.

Secondly, the fixtures featured 3 of the weaker drawing teams from the NRL (Canberra, Sharks, Panthers) in a difficult economic period and still drew well.

Thirdly, we didn't go backwards. They say for any annual event years 2 & 3 are the hardest (and usually when things fall apart).

Finally, the sheer fact one game was on Fox and we had more games overall, more people saw RL in the US.

Shame about how uncompetitive the Super League & Raiders v Warriors games were. The Women's Test was a real momentum killer.

Finish in the last game could make up for it

The NRL isn't fussed about the SL TV deal.

And they certainly aren't suddenly busting a gut to ensure NZ is looked after.
Reminds me of those NZ Warriors fans and club administrators that ALWAYS whinge whenever their team have to play a Ch9 Friday night match or Saturday 7:30pm match on the east coast of Australia, as well as whenever the Grand Final kicks off at 7:30pm (which has been the status quo since 2013).

New Zealand will NEVER, ever be to rugby league what the BCCI is to international cricket, where the BCCI has the power to dictate the entire scheduling of major ICC tournaments in order to suit India.

So, suck it up fellas across the ditch! Sydney and Brisbane will always be the two main metros when it comes to rugby league tv ratings in the Southern Hemisphere. All scheduling done by the NRL/ARLC has and will ALWAYS be done to maximise ratings in those particular markets. That is not going to change anytime soon.

Np point bullshitting about crowd numbers, we`ll leave that to the union mob.
No but seriously, 45k is an increase on last year and if we have club`s with larger fanbases and the NRL tinker with their marketing and
we hit 50k it`ll look even better all round as an event that is gaining traction.

4 games over 10 hours was never going to work.

PVL got a bit greedy. The Poms were a good idea. They bought heaps of fans.
Otherwise, keep it simple and to just two games, to keep fans in the stadium.
can only assume he wanted to showcase the women’s game to try and attract some American female athletes as they look to expand the nrlw.
That was a dog of a decision. Pitching amateurs v professionals is never going to be a showcase.

True last year they tried to bs and quote that 48k number when it was 38k

Still without all the Poms it’s down on last year

Next year will be different especially if the eels join dogs and dragons

Last year had sourhs and broncos so two large fan bases
