Problem is we don’t know which grey seats are sold vs which ones just haven’t been put to sale yeah? Is it possible to do a stab on what we’d expect the crowd to be based on this? Maybe AI can help.
We know that at this point last year every bay on Level 1 and 2 were put on sale and on Level 3, that 346 & 347 never went on sale and that they didn't sell the back 3-5 rows in the corner bays.

This year we've seen every bay on Level 3 go on sale and we've seen all rows put on sale at some stage, with many bays currently selling into the last row.

What we don't know is if these former blue, now grey seats were sold or if some have been taken off sale. A common trick when tickets aren't moving is to take every second row off sale, which can spread out the crowd, making a bay look more full. Based upon today's snapshot, there is minimal evidence suggesting that, though that doesn't mean they haven't done something.

For me, if we are going only off the ticket sales maps, I'd suggest we are on track to equal or beat last year. The lack of noise & numbers from the NRL & press + the ever decreasing number of people going to LV makes me question that.

It should be over 35K, how much over we'll get more of a feel in the next few days.

I’ve had a look a few times over the past couple weeks and I think they might have taken some rows off sale to do what you suggest - to make it look more full.

The lack of noise from nrl about ticket sales is suggesting as well like you said.

I've been watching it over the last week and like you say, going by the map is looking promising.
I'm really hoping that it can be bigger than last year as that's the most marketable angle for the whole concept, continual growth.

At the very least, it's going to look good on TV already.

Be very interesting to see how we do with Vegas this year considering all the headwinds that Vegas is experiencing economically, tourism is way down.
A good turnout will tell us:

How important the event is for the city and how resilient it is.
That there's a market for an affordable event that is increasingly rare in Vegas.
Year on year growth in a declining market points towards an extension of the current 5 year plan and increases the likelihood of creating more events ( global round) of similar scope.

Haven’t been across media too much lately but does it feel like the hype around Vegas isn’t there like it was last year? I guess we still have a week to go and as the teams start getting up to activities over there there will be more coverage.

I reckon Wednesday/Thursday when Fox League are over there and the shows start it will again.

The first year no one knew what to expect then the Thursday before when most of the crowd arrived and then the TV coverage in Vegas was full of NRL jerseys on the TV that's where it picked up all the hype and media.

It may seem like a long shot, but if Jeff Fenech has his way, Mike Tyson may find himself watching rugby league this weekend.
Once known as the scariest man on the planet, Tyson will have a special visitor in the US this week in long-time friend Fenech, who hopes to bring the former heavyweight champion to the NRL season opener on Sunday (AEDT).

Fenech is taking his entire family, including his two-month-old granddaughter Kaliyah, to Las Vegas to watch her dad, Newcastle star Bradman Best, start his season against the Cowboys.

While there, Fenech plans to see Tyson and has begun laying the groundwork to invite him to the NRL.

“I have already sent a couple of emails to his wife,” Fenech said on trying to get Tyson to the season opener.

“I’d love for him to watch, not just Bradman, but just to be a part of everything with the game. He would love it, I just know it.”

Fenech and Tyson have a long history, not only through training but also as lifelong friends.

That’s why Tyson was one of the first people Fenech contacted when he decided to take his family across the world for rugby league.
“With Mike, you never know where he is,” Fenech said.

“Mikes driver is picking me up when I’m in Vegas. I’d love for him to come and watch the footy with me, but just getting to see him is a highlight, and you can guarantee, we’ll be talking about it.”

While spending time with Tyson is high on Fenech’s wish list, the main reason he’s going to Vegas is to babysit his new granddaughter.

Fenech’s daughter Kayla and Best gave birth to the little girl in December last year, with Jeff and his wife Suzee wanting to ensure the entire family gets to share the moment.

Jeff has paid for Kayla and Kaliyah to fly first class on American Airlines to ensure a comfortable trip straight to Vegas, while Kayla’s parents are stopping over in LA for three days.

“I think it’s really important because my daughter is the happiest person in the world because of Bradman, and by us being there, it’s going to give her the opportunity to go out with Bradman and the team, so we can babysit,” Jeff said.

While in the States, Jeff plans to meet fellow Australians and friends, entrepreneur Mark Bouris, Roosters chairman Nick Politis, and James Packer.

Jeff and Suzee will spend the first three days of their trip in Los Angeles before meeting Kayla and Bradman in Sin City in the lead-up to the NRL season opener.
For Jeff, returning to Vegas will bring back fond memories and feel somewhat like a homecoming.

The four-time world champion says his infamous draw against Azumah Nelson in 1991 at The Mirage Hotel & Casino was overall one of the greatest experiences of his career despite the controversy surrounding the fight.”

Yeh I forgot his daughter is dating best and that’s why he would go
