If both Siebold and Bennett stay where they are, I suspect their respective 2019 seasons will go pear shaped. The off field turmoil will hit the Broncs, whilst the Souths playing group I doubt are gonna have much faith in whoever their coach is going by all the reports I've heard.

I don't think that either roster looks particularly strong anyway. They would have had weak periods regardless of the coaching issues.

Now it will all be put down to the coaches, and the drama will be blown out of proportion when they have their inevitable form slump.

I’d back out of the letter of intent with Bennett, pay Seibold out for the year and piss him off. Then I’d go after someone who would actually relish the opportunity. Whether that be a first grade shot for an O’Brian or Demetriou or whether we give a shot to Walters or resurect Toovey.

We need to cash out of this circus ASAP.

Bennett is contracted to receive $1.1m from Brisbane in 2019. that's why he's sticking it out. he has a couple of disabled kids so can't blame him for that. brisbane need to sack him to him to effect the transition. ego is at play here. BRISBANE Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has been taking secret six-figure cash payments from mining magnate Ken Talbot for the past three years, The Sunday Mail can reveal.
Talbot, the founder of Macarthur Coal and worth more than $700 million, yesterday confirmed he had been making cash gifts to Bennett since 2004.

Talbot said he regularly gave money to friends. It is understood the money Talbot gave Bennett was placed in a Bennett family trust account.

The Sunday Mail has been told Talbot had a million-dollar arrangement with Bennett – worth $100,000 a year in cash gifts for 10 years.

Talbot last night said his fiscal assistance to the NRL's most successful coach was primarily for Bennett's disabled children, Justin and Katherine.

"I have helped him financially, yes . . . I've helped him for a couple of years actually," Talbot said. "But it's particularly for his children.

"In principle, I have sought to help Wayne, and one day I hope his family can achieve the things they want to achieve.

"Wayne has enormous responsibility providing for those disadvantaged children. From that viewpoint, I'm happy to assist Wayne."

When contacted last night for comment about the payments, Bennett said: "I don't discuss private family matters publicly.

I know its confronting in the NRL to see someone honouring the terms of the their contract, but there is a certain nobility to someone actually doing that.

He is of course daring the Broncos to fire him, in which case he gets the souths money and the broncos money this year. Good business

The Broncos with Bennett are in a similar situation we had with Sheens. Souths will be Bennett's last job in club coaching, I can't see another team picking him up. Whether he leaves via mutual consent, or sacking to him is irrelevant in terms of his CV because he won't need it anymore. He is going to want to be paid every cent he is owed because his next stop is retirement. It sucks for the Broncos but they've made this mess when they signed up Seibold for season 2020 when it is only 2018. I don't blame Sheens for what he did to us, our management offered him stupid money over 3 years (2012-2014) then after 1 realised they stuffed up and sacked him.
