18 straight league games with a goal now. Don't know if it's ever been done before, but i'll be surpirsed if i ever see a run like that again in my lifetime.

Given the way the La Liga draw works, if he scores in the next game against Vigo (which he will do), he'll have scored against all 19 sides consecutively.

Same. Im 26 so never really got to see Maradona or van Basten.

Ive had the pleasure of seeing Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, Christiano Ronaldo, and Ronaldo at his peak which was truly a sight to behold, and his particular qualities are not likely something ill ever see again from a striker...

But there's no doubt that Messi stands alone above them all. And even if i live for another 50 years i'll be staggered if i see a player that approaches his greatness.

Im still coming to terms with the genius of his first goal vs AC Milan...the first touch control and speed he showed to get off that incredible shot. It's one of the best goals ive ever seen, without alot of people ever realising just how good it was.
The AC Milan goal was unbelievable, people don't appreciate it because he hasn't run 40 yards and dribbled past the entire team and let's face it it's Messi, he sets such a high standard that people expect the extraordinary (if Fat Frank had scored one like that Stamford Bridge would've been flooded with a wave of cum).
If you see the moment he hit that shot there was literally 6 AC Milan players within a 5 metre radius of him, the way he hit that shot as well, Abbiati was watching the ball ruffle the net before he even realised what had happened

#22 v Vigo. Based on a very inaccurate assumption of continuing to get 22 goals for every quarter of the year, he'll end up on 88.

#23 v PSG. The injury will severely impact his attempts at bettering 2012 unfortunately.

Just checked. It is indeed 21 straight La Liga games with at least one goal.

Getting a bit silly now isn't it?

It's always made me wonder how prolific Messi would be at another club.

For example, a straight swap with RVP at United. Would Messi score much less goals and would RVP score many more?

But then again Barca are going backwards yet Messi seems to be scoring more so who knows.

The Premier League's style of play is very open so Messi would have an absolute field day. I reckon he'd score 40-50 goals every season in the league alone. I have very little doubt about that. So not dissimilar to La Liga really...

Yet he has scored once on england soil, different leagues, but at it his very best could get near 30 in the league

Agree with Tommy that he'd have even more space to weave his magic in the PL.

Lesser teams at least have a go in England and don't play 10 at the back like those in Spain.

This hasn't been updated since May. After last night's hatrick, he is up to 34 goals for the 2013 calendar year.

By my calculation, he has 23 Barca matches and 3 Argentina matches (not including friendlies) left.
