So there are no friendlies next week for the LU Cup as we are all playing in the Oceania Cup???

Have any of you heard of managerzone.....I've been playing it for a couple of weeks now and it's pretty good, lot more technical than hattrick which can be a pain in the bottom but you get to play friendlies everyday and it is exactly the same concept as hattrick! Check it out www.managerzone.com and if you join, let me know so I can play a couple of friendlies against you ....we might need a seperate thread for managerzone :lol:

i was wondering.. if i buy a few players, what would be the best size squad for someone in my predicament.. ie. VI.7!
how many players?? umm thats all for the moment!

i think it sux, that lots of people in the cup are playing against computer oponents first up, and that i am not in the cup at all!! bugger.

Max should be 25 in my opinion

I have mine at 23 including the coach basically i have a second XI team i use for friendlies and any injuries or suspensions.

I think you're a bit unlucky regarding the cup draw but there is always next season

Looks like i will be going beyond the first round of the cup this season thanks to the draw (the $$$ will be good though )

and obviously the league doesnt start this weekend, so i wont have a game until next tuesday or wednesday!! and i still dont have a definate for then, so i dont know!

how long would i have to leave that training mode on, to make progress?

Defending is actually the slowest to train. A 17yo will normally take 8 weeks to go up a level (the first update may be faster than that because he may be halfway to the next level allready). However, the plus side to it is that you can fully train 10 players a week if you play 5-4-1 or 5-3-2 in the friendly and league game. The other training systems are faster, but you can't train as many players.

You can go through and train all the different positions, and that may give you the best short-term results. But long-term, the key is to pick one and stick with it. In my own situation, 2 seasons ago I bought a bunch of 17 and 18 year old inadequate defenders. None of them were worth much, and each of them cost less than $10 000. Now, 2 seasons later, they are excellent defenders and are worth at least a quarter million each (and my star wingback is setting all kinds of records for me - 1st formidable, 1st million dollar man, 1st to get four stars in the match rating). My plan is to train them for a further 2 more seasons and get them to brilliant or magnificient, at which point I should be able to sell a number of them (I'm looking at getting 2-5 million for each). That money will then be used to buy some very good midfield trainees and I will swap to training play-making. And then...watch out div I.

Ok, maybe not. :lol:

A word of warning though. Short-term, defending is the worst. I went from 3rd to 5th in my first season of training it. However, if you have the patience it does work out eventually, as my getting back to 3rd this season testifies.

Just an unofficial thing that we made. We (or NorthWest Rabbit to be exact) created a fixture list for 14 teams, most of whom are regular posters here. On Wednesdays for the friendlies, we challenge whoever we are meant to play and someone (normally me) works the results into the table. They're just friendlies that we've organised into a fun event.

Unfortunately, we've already started so we can't accept any more teams into it. Sorry.

I only have 20 players, but that got me in a little trouble late last season when I had a few injuries in the midfield and others in poor form. I guess the preferred option is to have enough players to field 2 completely different teams in the league and friendly, but if you're worried about wages you can cut back on a few and have some players playing both (as I do).

YEah i tried managerzone a while back!!...VERY frustrating as it took far too much of my time....so I stopped!

It'd be OK if u had the time to dedicate to it every day - else you'll get pounded by the ppl who CAN afford to be on there hours a day arranging friendlies, training players etc....too fiddly for me!! But Hat-Trick has the balanace about right 4 me!!

i think if i could start again, i so would start off way better, but i spose it'll settle down a bit once i get into the groove!

U managed to join right in the offseason - all of 2 weeks in HT!...Next Wed the cup starts - which unfortunately u didnt make the ranking cut in - and then sunday the league games begin!

When u get yourself a home game or 2 = youll start to see some $$$

Just don't spend anything more just yet!!
