I'm not all that alarmed by that. Just because he is 2 years older doesn't mean he won't be in the selection frame for the national side. I believe he can be there with those other blokes. I don't think age is the be all and end all of national selection.
But because they are younger they will train faster, plus they'll be in the U20 side so will also get quite a bit of experience. Perhaps you should contact the national coach and see what he says. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Congrats on the win, Poida. As long as you win this weekend I would expect you to sell out your stadium for the next cup game, which will certainly help with your finances.

I won my game 6-0, with the funny thing being that 3 of the goals came from two defenders on their debut. Now I face another Div V team, luckily at my homeground. He'll have the midfield over me if he puts out his strongest team (although the formidable playmaker I've got my eye on should help), but I beat him in defence and attack. Hmmm, could be a good game for counter-attack.

Unfortunately, Tom Arthur (the player I've listed and recommended to chemicalbrother) got injured for two weeks. :(

Yeah well done Poida!...both on the win & hauling your butt outta debt - it's still a long road back from here, but things are looking good! 8)

I'm thru to rnd 3 after a 6-0 (i think, from memory) win 2day and next week i play my first human-controlled team in this cup - HOW excitement!!!!

As for penalty takers, their is a VERY high miss rate in the HT game engine - something of a flaw I feel myself - or perhaps a LOT of ppl are just picking the WRONG players to take teir penalties??...Haven't quite decided which yet - but anyways - from memory, the skills you should look for in a good penalty taker, in descending order of importance, are:

EXPERIENCE (used with common sense - like a Solid exp guy with wretched set pieces won't be as good as a bloke with excellent set pieces and wretched exp for eg - but experience is still VERY important!)
SET PIECES
SCORING

My main penalty dude's Inadequate/Formidable/Magnificent respectively - and I tell ya - Marius 'The Implaler' Vladescu just does NOT miss from 12 yards out!! 8) Heh! ;-)

hahaha, yeah thanks dog-e! i might need the penalty takers again next week!!...
haha but seriously, thanks guys.
i think with two good crowds both on sunday and next wednesday. i should gain about $500k, and i think that'll be about 420 or so profit. so yeah, my expenses arent that bad, with salaries going down for most my players too this season.
it was just that offseason. and a pretty stupid decision to upgrade my arena before it!! haha, but its all good now for sure.

I'm out of the English cup after a 4-1 drubbing at home.

So if anyone is free for a friendly next week give us a shout.

Cheers

So how did everyone go today?

I won 5-0, using my second-string side. Heh, my new 17yo defender scored a hattrick, backing up the one goal he scored in the cup game.

i also won 5-0.. everyone played pretty well. i need to buy another good midfielder, i have one ok.. 2.5*, but i need another like that or better, and atm i cant buy anyone, let alone someone like that. i dont think i'll be able to do that for a while yet. that is make any purchases.
but yeah all is looking better at madtown vikings.

but this weeks cup game... i know i'm going to lose, i mean i CANNOT win!! i was thinking about PIC the game, i'm sure he will aswell, and i was thinking that since i cant realistically win, that i could possible give my players a little confidence boost. although they're pretty confident at the moment i think. ok its wonderful. so i guess thats ok.
and a huge loss at home wouldnt be great would it, well its going to be big enough without PIC.

Confidence basically effects how likely you are to score from a chance. It doesn't effect how many chances you get, only the likelihood of scoring from them. Scoring goals will raise your confidence, while conceeding goals (especially if you don't score any in the game yourself) will drop it.

Team Spirit effects your midfield. High TS will raise your midfield a bit, low TS will drop it. Team Spirit is the thing which is effected by PIC and MOTS. PIC will raise your TS by one level, MOTS will halve it.

So if you PIC your cup game and lose by a fair bit, then your TS will be higher for your next league game, but your confidence will probably be lower.

yeah.. and??
haha i've got no idea.. my main concern would be that a 9-1 score or worse would really effect the supporters mood. they are fairly important after all.

i'm pretty confident i can score a goal!! haha atleast..
so should i play PIC, raise TS, but lower supporter mood?? i dont really get it, and cant work it out.

Started 2 for 2 this season!....Haven't done that for a while - I normally come out of the blocks, stumble around for a tad, then STORM home!!...So this is unfamiliar territory!!

Also, my division - IV.49 - according to HATSTAS - was the second most difficult IV series last week!! NOT a record I want my series to have, really! :(

oh well - so far so good!
