Another amazing thing was that it was the second youngest starting eleven that SAF has ever named in the premier league. Seven of the players were 23 or under, and only Evra was older than 26.

The only problem with the Anderson-Cleverley partnership in midfield is that it does allow the opposition to get behind them and at our defence far too often for my liking. I remember the same was happening at the beginning of last season and we were shipping quite a lot of goals, something that wasn't fixed until Carrick got back. They're great when we have the ball, but I do worry about them when we don't have it.

He is a fantastic footballer and has the ability to be one the top players in the world no doubt about it, it just all seems to instinctive to me.

I'd like to see more intelligent play, putting his head up more to pick the right pass. Rooney must give him at least 5 rollikins in every game because he has had an optimistic 30 yard shot when a pass was on.

He is old enough now, hopefully this is the year we see it from him, and he can go on to hit the heights he is capable off.
I remember when Ronaldo Cristiano began with us. He had talent but needed to learn how to use it.

I wouldn't get too excited over the midfield domination.

That was Jake Livermore's debut for Spurs and Nikko Kranjkar's first ever game as a CM as he normally plays on the left wing. Huddlestone came on at the end and that was his first run for about 6 months after an ankle operation.

We seem to just run out of legs after 70 minutes and that was out first game for the season. We looked like we hadn't trained since last season.

You guys seemed much better prepared than we were. Missed Modric and Sandro big time.

Well played guys.

So the spurs are the only team in the world who don't prepare for the season ahead by playing trial games?

It was your second competitive game of the season. You played Hearts in Europe last thursday and looked very good.

Completely agree. Nani has shown he can use it. To push on now and be the player we want him to be, he needs more consistency.

High hopes he can pull it off. Especially when he surrounded by all the other fast young players. Must be a great place to play at the moment. He can learn of the old masters, but still needs to keep sharp or he is out.

Pub Quiz time.
When did we play the youngest ever team?
(Sadly i new this without googling it. It felt good to know and be a footy nerd, but also quite sad that i should know these things. :D )

Yeah, i can see that been a problem. I guess Sir Alex is hoping the energy Cleverly and Ando has can cover the ground. Cleverly started as a fullback and Ando has been played deep in his career, so i guess its just a question of them learning there roles. They are both new to it. Same for Welbeck upfront. Looks fantastic but sometimes makes the wrong runs. By Christmas it will be reet though. Owen and Scholes can become teachers.

Loving the speed the ball is played around also. Much faster when Carrick is not playing. I can see Carrick as a bench guy now. He can come on when we need to sure up the midfield or we are holding on. He'll also get more away games and the bigger games until the experience is there.

Overall. Good win against a team with serious ambitions for 4th.

what's the consensus on De Gea?? i thought the commentators was pretty harsh on him...

everyone seems to be sweating on him looking for the smallest thing to criticize him for.

A simple Hull (A) 2009 would of done!!!

Settled by a Darron Thomas Daniel Gibson (aged 21.5) screamer!! :D

Its good becasue evn though its young, there is a good amount of experience there. Evans, Nani, Rooney, Anderson have all played a lot for us, Young has played a lot and even Welbeck and Cleverly have done a full prem season.

Its not just about chucking players in, its all about when to chuck 'em. A bad start could kill a promising career.

How badass is Welbeck's full name!?

Its awesome.

He should of done what Luid Carlos Almeida Da Cunha did and change it to something fancy.

Little Nii, or Welbeckio. Instant Stardom there. I mean, 'Daniel Welbeck', who is going to be world player of the year with that name.

I like Scholes though, none of this fancy middle name rubbish.

Well, that was quite a peasing result. Didn't like conceding 2 goals, but I guess it was that sort of go-for-broke game from both teams.

Is it possible for a 8-2 scoreline to not be truly reflective of United's dominance? Could have easily been 10.

I don't really know what to say about this match. It was amazing. How much of it was Arsenal being a mess and how much was us being fantastic, I don't know.

I was always confident Young would be a good player for us and he'd give Nani and Valencia a good battle for the wing spots. But I must say he's surprised even me with how well he's started his Utd career.

Big shame Welbeck injured his hamstring. He started the season a little quietly, but after scoring against Spurs he continued to destroy them for the final 30 minutes and he started this match the same way. Hope he's not out for long.

Rooney's started the season in amazing form. For the first time he seems to be bringing the best of all parts of his game at the same time. The maturity of his recent seasons and the dribbling and long-distance shooting of his early years.

Throw in Cleverley, Anderson, Smalling, Jones and Evans and it's been a brilliant start to the season.

lol, the scary thing for our opposition must be that the best attacking player in the premiership last season (Nani) hasn't really got into form yet, last seasons top goal scorer (Berbatov) has barely been seen, Chicharito is only just coming back from injury and is still rusty, and Valencia hasn't played a game yet.

Indeed, our starting line-up so far this season has only three players (Rooney, Nani and Evra) who were in our strongest 11 last season. Fergie has completely rebuilt the side with the purchase of three players and recalling two of the players loaned out.
