The point remains, that Owen was on the bench ahead of Berbatov. Owen! Berbatov must be gone

Scholes has also retired which is a bit sad. Arguably the best player under SAF and about the only person from the club i like, carried himself humbly for many year without any of the bullshit that goes with being a professional. Well played to him.

you'd make a good politician, I believe thats called deflection

now care to answer the question, did he not finish top of the PL goal scoring ?

how could he possibly not be in your top 11

Now look Twizzle. Because of your unacceptance that Berbatov is not in the first 11 of United i'm having to agree with a scouser.

He plays as our number 9. Not 19, occasional striker who comes of the bench. Our number 9. The only big game he has played in was the semi vs city and the less said about his striking prowess that day the better. I would be suprised if he is still around next season.

Also in relation to Scholes, i think he new his time was up. In someways i'm glad he has gone, so we can replace him. In other ways he was one the finest midfielders ever, and will be a loss. He is still a coach though.

Oh and Owen has signed on for another year.

He was a lazy moody prick at Spurs, despite that he was very talented

One of those bloke who believe in his own publicity.

He's only 30 so be interesting to see what happens to him from here

Good signing for us. Thats the defence sorted for the next 10 years. Him and Smalling looked very good in Englands U21 team.

The Young deal is as good as done apparently. He is on his hols and signing when he returns.

As is De Gea, he has an issue with an agent and he is at the U21s, so that will be sorted when its over.

We are been linked with Modric still but United are not saying anything, the only people talking are Spurs and his agent so it looks like they know he is going and are just trying to bump up the value.

The other guy is Sanchez from Udinese. Not sure where we would play him, but i hear good things about him, so maybe we could find a place for him. He can replace Valencia who we will swap with Spurs for Modric. He is perfect for Harrys 442 formation.

Maybe... :D

I was getting into the spirit of transfer rumours. :D
Football manager is real and how it actually happens you know!

Since then Sanchez has gone to Barca and Modric doesn't want to leave London. So epic fail all round really.

Ashley Young has joined from Villa for £17 million.

He plays on the left cutting in or behind a front man. With Ronney playing deeper i would of though he would be our left wing replacement for Giggs.

Him, Park and Cleverly for that spot. With added flexibility.

So thats a winger and a defender bought. All we need now is to replace Scholes and Van Der Saar!! Just like at the start of summer. :D

does any ManU fan thing Young is worth 17mill ?

I guess he is worth what ever you guys want to pay as you really need midfielders, but 17mill ?

Cant believe the prices being paid for some transfers atm.

Just a heads up.... got an email from them saying all purchases over 40 pounds with the online store gets free shipping to Australia.

I wanted to get the new jersey with Chicharito on it, so may do it now.

Yes.

We had Giggs and Park as out two left wingers. Now we have a very fast direct winger who scores a few and has the second highest assists in the league whilst playing for a team that wasn't that good.

He is proven in the Prem and is now an England regular.

He also plays of a front man, so in games where we play Rooney upfront, he is flexible enough to play behind him.

So yeah, i'd say 17mil is a good price for him.

Well, here we are again, on the eve of the Community Shield. On the one hand we always treat it as another pre-season game, on the other it is against City so the players will likely be a bit more fired up.

Scholes testimonial was last night, was much more competitive and serious than most testimonials. Just the way he'd want it, use it like a serious warm up to the season rather than a celebration for him. But he scored a typical Scholes pile-driver to open the scoring in the 6-0 win. Was very strange watching him come off late on knowing we'd never see him on the field again (except maybe Giggsy's testimonial when he retires). The term is over-used, but Scholesy was a true legend.

Welbeck and Cleverley have both impressed in pre-season, so hopefully they can carry that into the season proper and make a real impact this year. Even Pogba came on for the last 20 minutes last night and looked fantastic in the centre midfield, although it was when we were dominating the game. He may get a few more chances in the Carling Cup and maybe off the bench occasionally, hopefully he can take the opportunities and start pushing for a spot next season.

Will be interesting to see if this Sneijder deal does happen. So much talk and you've got to think something is happening, but there's a long way to go. We obviously do need something different in midfield, but I must admit I do worry how well Sneijder would go in the two man midfield that we normally play.

2-0 and De Gea is looking shaky.

Caught ball watching on the first and even though Dzeko's strike was quality, and on target, surely it should have been saved?

Nice comeback, although I get to miss fun of Citeh fans talking themselves up deluxe after a trial win. Good night all round with Wet Sham getting done by Cardiff at home.

De Gaea's barely out of nappies in goalkeeper terms. I'm guessing Lindegaard will be our first choice 'keeper this season.
