1 - 0 victory against Wigan to push past Chelsea and within striking distance of Liverpool. Rooney injured early in the game though.

Good result.

Man Utd doing what Liverpool are failing to do. Which is win the must win games on the back of a tough schedule.

They do need Evra back though. O'Shea got sliced to shreads by Valencia. But while ever they have the God that is Nemanja Vidic at the back they should be fine.

by next time liverfail play we will (hopefully) be ahead of the amateur hour club

Arsenal would love to have a Vidic type player, instead we only got Gallas lol.

Man Utd have got the Best defence in the Premier League

Surprised no one mentioned this.. At one point the ref wanted to speak to Rooney, as per usual he puts on a petulant display, he throws his hands in the air and told the ref to f*ck off and walked away.

The ref continued to call out to him and Rooney continued to walk away. Eventually he came back and bent over looking at his shoes, the ref put his fingers under Rooney's chin and lifted his head up as he wouldn't look up even though the ref was asking him too..

Then Rooney spent the entire chat rubbing his jaw and looking at his fingers as if the ref has somehow hurt him..

I was waiting for him to fall to the ground in agony..

I admire the talent but he is hard to like when he carries on like that..

Yes, Rooney does go too far sometimes. I don't know how he doesn't get warned more severely at times. I guess he is simply one of England's golden boys (other members include Gerrard and Terry) who constantly get away with stuff which, quite frankly, they shouldn't. The strange thing is that Rooney seemed to be getting a lot better over the last two seasons, but he's suddenly gone through a patch where he's lashing out and acting more petulant when he gets frustrated than usual.

To be fair, it was about the only big call that went our way against Chelsea though. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere here, but the linesman disallowed a perfectly legal, and brilliantly executed, goal from Ronaldo immediately before our first. We had a corner, Rooney took the ball over to the corner flag then walked away while 'accidently' knocking the ball back into play. Giggs slowly made his way over as if he were going to take the corner, only to suddenly start dribbling with the ball and crossing for Ronaldo to head home. Perfectly legal, a good bit of trickery which has been used before by other teams. Unfortunately not only did it fool the opposition, it also fooled the linesman who didn't realise Rooney had actually taken the corner. In that situation, the linesman deserves the abuse that Rooney and Giggs gave him. Thankfully Vidic scored on the re-taken corner anyway, but it still rankles.

We were also denied a blatent penalty when Carvalho manhandled then tripped Ronaldo as Giggs swung a free kick in. Virtually a rugby league tackle, arms wrapped around him and dragging him back. Ronaldo also had another goal disallowed for offside in the second half which was extremely close, it wasn't the clear-cut certainty of the other two instances but even it probably should have been play on. So on any other day Ronaldo could easily have had a hattrick (he would have obviously taken the penalty).

A Man U fan admitting to Rooney childish behaviour during games, what is the world coming to. I don't mind players expressing frustration at decisions, but Rooney's made an art-form of it. I always wonder whats going through a refs mind when he carries on like he does at times.

Umm, right or wrong decision, abuse of officials shouldnt be condoned.

I think you are right, players should never have a go at the officials, but I would expect that the linesmen should punished from the FA or ref association or whoever takes care of that. It wasnt a borderline offside call which, while never happy if the decision is wrong, you can understand. In this situation the linesman simply wasn't watching the corner being taken ie: he was not doing his job. He should be demoted to the championship for a week or something along those lines because that was a disgraceful display by him.

Well I probably shouldn't have even used the word abuse in that situation. Rooney and Giggs did yell in his face, but it certainly didn't seem to be personal words. It looked to be simply something along the lines of:

"I *%#@ took it! What the &#%@ are you doing? The ball was in the &#^% spot and I $^#* played it out!"

In hindsight, I'm actually surprised at how little Rooney in particular did abuse him. And by the look on his face, I think the linesman quickly realised he screwed up. It looked like he hoped the ground opened up and swallowed him.

I'm going to need a pacemaker by seasons end if United keep leaving it until the final minutes to put the game away. 10th clean sheet in a row as well, the goals may not be flowing but the defence has been outstanding.
