Chelsea are still lurking...we just can't seem to shake them off completely. a couple of big games coming up, and with the return to European action as well we need to keep that 6 point buffer.

i'd say its going to come down to the last few rounds...which makes it more entertaining than the last few seasons have been (unless you are a Chelsea fan!)

Assuming you meant Ronaldo, I watched the replay, his left foot was contacted and it looked fair enough to me

I know better than to come in here (fair warning, Chelsea fan on the prowl) for any reason, but gee Manchester United are looking great guns at the moment. They're in the driver seat right now. It's getting to the point where it's there's to lose. Still plenty of time for us to come back, but we're slowly edging closer towards the "screw up and it's over" stage of our campaign.

Great game by Man U. this morning. Even if Ronaldo is a scumbag...Hahaha....

Hahaha I like him. He's an awesome winger, but that was weeeeeeeeeeak...

He is the best winger in the comp, probably the in form player of the premiership.

I dont think he dived, i reckon he tripped over himself, he was runnin at pace and a little tap can send ya flying, to all the baggers, you WISH you had Ronaldo on your side.

What about the blatant dive by berbatov was it??? FMD, wasn't that theatrical. Neville should of been penalised though, tried to tackle him, LOOOOL. GO MANCHESTER!!!

Yes there is still plenty of time for chelsea to come back, injury and a couple of signings that have not worked out have stalled you guys, yet you are only 6 points behind. Honestly if we end up getting Heargraves and this bale, we will dominate for a while yet. Same as Arsenal, hate to admit it but they have some great youth coming into the squad. In my honest opinion, if chelsea dont win it this year, they will struggle to finish the better of fourth for a couple of years, it will be Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool dominating the next season, due to better recruitment, youth and management. Chelsea are just a bunch of big names thrown together with no ticker and that includes mourinho ;-)

Chelsea have plenty of ticker. Injuries have killed us. No Joey Cole all season, Robben's been in and out, Cech out for 4 months cosat us at least 6 points. Terry out for 2 months, Ash Cole Buggered now.

Having said that Man U have been excellent and deserve the title this season. I can;t see them droping many points in the 12 games left. Chelsea would just about have to win every game and hope Man U drop at Liverpool and somewhere else.

The only way Chelsea can win it is Man U are only 2 points ahead when they come to Stamford Bridge as theres no doubt Chelsea can win that game if needed.

Ronaldo refuses to pledge future to United

Manchester United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to quash the rumours which have linked him with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer.

Ronaldo admits his future is unclear but the winger insists speculation will not affect his excellent form this season.

The Portugal international, who played in his country's 2-0 win over Brazil at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium last night, has been repeatedly linked with a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid since the World Cup last summer.

Barca sporting director Txiki Begiristain was reportedly at the game in north London to watch the winger but Ronaldo, 22, said: 'For the moment, I'm only thinking about training well every day.

'I don't know where I will be in the space of the next six months.

'The only thing I am sure about is I want to continue at the level I've reached and aim to improve even more.'

it is a concern, but then again i expected him to go last summer when there was plenty of speculation, and hatred from the Poms!

as long as he keeps banging in those goals for us, I'm sure ole Alex will be having plenty to say in his ear.

I hope he stays...if he leaves, Knowing Man U's transfer policy, they'll probably sign Aaron Lennon or some random Frenchy to replace him.

if Ferg was to let him go it would be for a kings ransom...and well it should be.

can't see Ferg being keen to let him leave though...why would you when he is only 22!

FA Barclays Premiership
Old Trafford, Sat 10 February

MANCHESTER UNITED 2
Park (24), Fletcher (82)

CHARLTON ATHLETIC 0

The Reds won this match without ever really over-exerting themselves against Charlton at Old Trafford.
The performance perhaps didn't follow suit after 4-0 victories over Watford and Tottenham in recent weeks, but goals from the impressive pair Ji-sung Park and Darren Fletcher gave Sir Alex’s men another three valuable points in the race for the title.

Cristiano Ronaldo had been suffering from a cold in the week and was rested, as was Michael Carrick, recovering from a slight groin injury. Darren Fletcher partnered Paul Scholes in midfield. Edwin van der Sar missed out due to the broken nose he received against Tottenham last time out for the Reds. Tomasz Kuszczak again deputised for the Dutchman.

There was a recall for Louis Saha up front alongside Wayne Rooney. The Frenchman has been infrequently involved in recent weeks due to a minor knee injury. But he returned to face Charlton for his first start since Newcastle on New Year’s Day.

United were positive from the first whistle, with Charlton’s tactics of Marcus Bent up front on his own merely inviting pressure.

Ji-sung Park was first to test Addicks goalkeeper Scott Carson after five minutes, latching on to a poor headed clearance from Ben Thatcher, before forcing a full-stretch save with a powerful right-footed shot. The on-loan Liverpool keeper was called upon again a minute later. Ryan Giggs, who typified United’s first-half performance with explosive bursts forward, turned past Thatcher on the right flank and crossed for Saha, whose header on the turn was saved low and to Carson’s left.

Charlton then exerted a spell of pressure themselves. An excellent cross on the right from Osei Sankofa was met by a powerful header from Darren Ambrose. Kuszczak had to scramble across goal and tip the ball round the post. Ambrose had another attempt on goal on 23 minutes, this time a shot on the bounce from 25 yards which Kuszczak did well hold onto on an uneven goalmouth surface.

It certainly hadn’t been a beautiful game, and so it was no surprise that the cross that brought about the opening goal was the result of a deflection. Giggs and Patrice Evra linked up well on the left and the Frenchman’s cross ricocheted off Sankofa. Surprisingly, it was Park who rose above Thatcher to skilfully head United into the lead.

The Reds almost had a second with seven minutes of the half remaining after some sublime skill from Rooney. The 21-year-old forward controlled Giggs’ lofted pass in mid-air, then flicked the ball over Diawara and Thatcher before shooting narrowly wide. It would have been one of his finest goals for United.

With Charlton offering little in the way of penetrative attacking football, United appeared content with the 1-0 win after the break. There was a patience to the play, lacking United’s usual speed. Rooney and Giggs both had shots from the edge of the area, but 15 minutes into the second half there had been few clear-cut opportunities.

Sir Alex, keen not to rest on such a slender lead, replaced Giggs with Henrik Larsson. The Swedish forward played on the right flank, Park switching to the left.

A sense of urgency seemed missing from United’s play and the Reds were given a scare on 78 minutes when Marcus Bent flicked on Dennis Rommedahl’s free kick just past Kuszczak’s left post. The fans clearly recognised the fragility of a 1-0 lead and urged the team on for a second. Charlton’s fans sensed an opportunity of their own.

Rooney and Saha almost combined to find a second for Sir Alex’s side. On the counter, the Frenchman fed the ball to Rooney, whose first-time, lofted pass put Saha through. But, under close attention from two Charlton defenders, couldn’t get enough power behind his shot and Carson saved.

However, a second finally arrived with just over eight minutes remaining. Good link-up play between Larsson and Rooney allowed the latter to get a shot on target, which Carson saved with his legs. But the ball came back out to Rooney, whose cross found Fletcher for a simple header to wrap up the points.

Team Line-ups

ahhh...we continue the march on towards the title.

nice to see some other contributors in regards to scoring too.

Sir Alex is telling the team to focus upon their own games, rather than concentrate on where other teams are behind them. he seems to have this squad absolutely humming at the moment.
