Honour the contract. If we didn't want to see it through, regardless of the consequences, we shouldn't have signed it.

I'm sure movements will take place soon to appoint a coach for 2010, if preliminaries have not been underway already.

I see Parra giving Hages 12 months or so notice, just as they did for Smithy (well before it went public), and just as was apparently written into Hages contract.

That way we honour the contract, and it becomes Hages' choice (as it was Smithy's choice) whether to honour his side of it and stay the duration of 2009, or pack up and leave early once he's organised his 2010 pay-check, giving himself a few months holiday like Smith did mid-season (and to hell with the team or your contract).

I reckon we'll know before the AGM in December.

I predicting the same, we'll know who it is by 2010 by the AGM and the announcement will definitely cushion whatever blow our fuhrer cops from angry supporters.

Ok someone out of left field .. how about Steve Folkes as coach.
Ok the bulldogs got the spoon but they have some really ordinary players there and Folkes did go alright in the preceeding years. Just a thought ?
I reckon we definately dont need a rookie coach like Steven Kearney. I personally would be happy if JT came back !

yeah Folkes could be a dark horse but you can forget about JT I don't think he left the club on great terms.

Seriously, Daniel Anderson makes sense... he'd not be looking to jump straight in somewhere else after finishing up with St Helens (with one last piece of silverware for good measure), knowing he's relocating back to Australia.

Probably take a well earned holiday for a few months, time to settle the family and kids back into a house and school, and then focus on recruitment and retention (on a small retainer, made possible by the recent staff cutbacks) for the remainder of 2009 before taking the reigns at the Eels from 2010.

I agree the public announcement of whatever our plans are will be made before the Footy Club AGM, even though the Footy Club and membership has little to do with our NRL team. You can bet the Board Members of the Footy Club fear for their positions and will want to be seen doing something though, with the possibility of an extra 150-200 people having a vote this year after serving out the three-year waiting period...

Hagan will be coaching us next year, and that's for sure.

I think we can take Daniel Anderson off the list considering they gave Gur the punt a few weeks back.

I think everyone is resigned to the fact that it will happen.

we just don't have enough in us to give him an early departure present.

it will end up costing them more in keeping him. look at last nights crowd. expect a lot more of that in 2009

Spot on.

I've said it before, this clubs takes it's fans for granted and has done so for a long time. They'll be in for a rude shock next year....

YOu know who could make a difference. Pirtek.

They should call Dennis and pull out their sponsorship money or at least that Pirtek will only pay if the team makes the 8.

Stephen Kearney would make a great choice. He is being groomed by the now widely recognized best coach in the comp! Don’t forget that Melbourne have just won their third straight minor premiership guys. The bloke is obviously a genius, and if none of his coaching methods have rubbed off on Kearney then I’ll give it up.

2 things can make Parra strong again -
Denis Fitzgerald p@ss off!
Get Stephen Kearney (or better still Craig Bellamy)

I've been saying it all year and continue to say it and I'm owed a 6 pack becaue of it.

Hi Avenger :nwave:

Hello Stagger. :D

You will get that 6 pack regardless. I however am hoping he will quit after the announcement of the new coach for 2010.
