I’m glad you’ve come to realise the error of your ways..I'm sorry, I'll quote you next time Muzby, that was very insensitive of me.

100% he gets a say in hiring and firing and probably the final one except he does not talk or manage the money side as that is where he stood down from..not from recruiting as such but managing or assisting with the process of working out money / player values and fitting into our cap and roster...especially as we are working out cap rosters, weighing up values and players for seasons 2020 and 2021 and beyond as has to be done this far in advance....just like every club
Every coach says this is who I want or dont..make it happen if possible
Other clubs can make things happen easily than others..that is the main difference between all 16 in regards to recruitment
Dont forget top line players are thinning and if you look at whose available each year..only a few clubs have what you call good strong rosters across the 17 players....fact of the NRL now and in the future unless major cap value changes happen like a points system managed and updated annually by the NRL that works elsewhere.
Correct.
There aren't many out and out superstars left since Slater, JT, GI, Cronk, Smith have retired or close to retiring. FMD, a guy like DCE is now captain of Qld and Cody Walker is NSW 5/8. Even Jack Wighton can make an Origin team now.
Hence I don't know what some people on here expect that we can just magically land 3 or 4 superstars a year. That just ain't gonna happen unless you're a team like the Roosters. Hence last year when they landed Tedesco and Cronk to an already stacked team, that pretty much sealed a comp for them. No other team could come close to pulling that off.
The best recruitment managers find value where others aren't looking. Canberra went to Super League for instance and found some handy players and they have improved out of sight.
And there in lies the problem with the current NRL game structure, management system from junior development to reserves and NRL level..and irks me but good luck to them...the fact that Canberra and others have to sign Englands's and other Nations best to fill our NRL sides to play the current style of game we have.
What is wrong with our own home grown kids.
At SGI we just need quality people in charge who know what they are doing and who are held accountable for their actions. Get that culture into the Club and we are starting to head in the right direction. Our whole recruitment plan is a myth.
If we are really honest in appraising all our external signings post 2011 the words "handy at best" applies to 99% of the better ones which is barely a handful and bog average applies to the rest.
We didn't sign anyone that was absolutely game changing and at the peak of his powers.
Other clubs do sign such players but not StGI.
Hunt falls into the category "handy at best" and his good days are very good but normally they are on the same day as other players good days but then IMO he has far too many bad days especially in games where we need to him to the the point of difference and I don't think it would matter what position he played in.
He isn't the 1st player to suffer this fate and he certainly won't be the last.
