Well it seems like that Des Hasler and Jim Dymock will both be lame duck coaches next season. Teams don't usually perform for lame duck coaches.

Des will be off to the dogs in 2013, possibly taking a few Sea Eagles players with him. As for Jim, well who knows where he will be the year after next.

We all saw what happened to the Dragons after Bennett announced he was heading to the Knights next season. I really don't see anything different happening at Manly and Canterbury.

In my opinion you can right off both teams for winning the 2012 premiership. I don't see the Dogs making the playoffs. Would not surprise me if the Sea Eagles miss out the finals.

While the Bulldogs would never have been considered as favourites for next years comp, Manly following the grand final certainly would have been.

So who do you think the new favourite for the 2012 premiership is?

I think we're in for a very tighty contested comp next year. I'd say 15 of the 16 clubs are in with a genuine chance.

Storm, tbh i thought they were favourites coming into the year anyway

even with manly winning the comp, teams havent been able to go back to back for over a decade now, manly have lost some quality FG players and the storm continue to show they can plug and play anyone anywhere and be top 3.

Yeah i would say the storm as well but like most years you can guarantee a suprise packet will pop up and threaten and next year i will say with most certainty it won't be souffs.

I think we deserve to be the favourites as we have the three best players in the game, hopefully our forwards can stand up next year more than they did in 2011, if they do then I can see us going all the way. Other than us I believe that the Tigers are huge contenders to challenge us and Manly too.

Lol. Well said. All the hype just shows how many people's analytical skills are limited to the next tabloid headline. All the bullshit about Bennett and Saints ignores all the other factors that were in play. Things are rarely one dimensional. All generalisations are rubbish btw, generally speaking.
The doom and gloom surrounding the loss of a coach is laughable, people going as far as to predict the clubs demise. It was ever thus, Gibson went through a raft of clubs and they all survived. Nothing to see here really.

I wouldn't write Manly off, but I don't see the Dogs making the 8 next year.
Not convinced Newcastle will do as well as everyone thinks they will.

Brisbane should be favourites for the 2012 season.....think the Cowboys will be up there also next year and on the basis that their 20's have won the last 2 comps, and all 3 grades making the GF this year, surely the Warriors must be a massive chance.

Despite the whole Hasler debacle, I think Manly will go back to back next year. The Storm will be up there but I can't see them winning it. They are becoming predictable and I think teams have worked them out.

Exactly, the coach leaving should have little to do with being written off this early. Newcastle had an above average season with their coach getting demoted, over a third of their squad being told to look elsewhere and all the excitment of 2012 to be distracted by.

Until the Manly/Bulldogs players look disinterested in playing (which rarely a side does) I wont be writing either off. I dont think the Dogs can win it, but Manly will be up there again next year IMO, and it will stay that way until after a month or two or next season and I see how much commitment they have.

I'll go with the Warriors, although a new coach always brings a big question mark.
In ability and potential, they are right up there, especially now they have a much better player (Friend) in what clearly was their weakest position. Besides, they have the best junior team for the second year in a row!

Can't exclude the Storm and their big 3, Manly with their structure and talent, Cowboys backed up by a very sound junior pool, Tigers for well... being the Tigers, and the very well coached Broncos could be right up there if they successfully introduce a new player in the halves.

The Knights under Bennett will be much more solid, but I don't think they will have what it takes in the finals imo.
