For that particular game suzki had promo vechiles on the ground, which were being driven by their promotional girls.. Anyway to cut a long story short, some drunk guy dressed in a safari suit jumped the fence (with his beer again) and decided it would be a good idea to take one of these promo cars for a spin. In the end it took police and security about 20 minutes to stop this idiot who kept driving around and around the oval with his beer in one hand. He even drove over the baseball mound and got quite a bit of air i might add. However the funniest thing of all was that besides the football bans and tresspass charges he also lost his license for drink driving

I wish he laid a hand on a Parra player, the rest of the players would have kicked the sh*t out of him

Not sure where but I read that when he was getting carted off he said

"I should've been allowed to tackle one of them [Parra players] cause none of the Knights are"

You know what is scary about all this,

We can talk about banning a player all we want but how does a Club or the NRL enforce it. . .

Do the ticket sellers have little photo albams of those that were banned in the last year from the gound to help them ensure these people aren't buying tickets ?

What about the Satellite ticket agencies, I have seen ticketeks in News Agencys do they stop these people buying a ticket.?

Hell if all the aboce does happen what is to stop someone getting a ticket off a mate. ???

Is it then down to security at the grounds ? ? ?

There is no one security orginisation that works at all the grounds, so do they co-operate, do club release people names mugshots and supported teams on a database, do all security staff, but especailly gate security have access to this information to enforce the ban. Do those security guards actually look at who is going in or do they look to see a bag and check for glass or cans.

or are these security people nothing more than rent-a-cops. I have a friends who is the head of security for a major orginisation, he even does body-guard work. The requirements to be ground security is not as major as you would think.

So what are we left with. The Power of the words "you have been banned". For some (those without the intelligance to think about what I have said) that would be enough, fear they would be caught and banned for life.

The fact that there is no uniform code on what to bring into a ground or the like is even more disturbing. What did he bring on the feild , a can. Now a can, even half full of liquid makes one hell of a missile if thrown well enough, just ask the Blues for a State of Origin at Lang Park. Places like Newcastle, Brookvale and Shark Park that sell cans should be given a massavie wake up call by the NRL. 600 ml softdrink bottles or PET bottles of beer are plastic and even half full of liquid could not do as much damage a the base of an aliminum can. The NRL may be putting on the show, but who is hosting it. . .

Of course it is pointless to ban someone for good at NRL games - the chances of them getting caught down teh track are VERY slim for the exact reasons you outlined....BUT if they have a very harsh punishment should the person be caught, then that is the only deterrant - cos if the dude does get caught and faced a small jail sentence or something then u rely on the person having some fear.

I believe in the UK they have special security cameras that can match the faces they are filming with scanned faces of banned people - yet this still has its problems and there is no way in hell its feasible (costwise) for the NRL.

So - yeah the only thing lengthy bans rely on is that the person they are imposed on have a concience - which is probably unlikely anyway.

Would LOVE to be able to comment on this cause I was there BUT!!!!!!! I didn't see it cause some Parra Supporter had their flag up,in front of my face!!!! If I was crude and uncouth I'd use some more expletive comments and words to describe it. Can you imagine parents letting their kids do that?? Hey I paid full price for my ticket.

gee this sounds familiar................................................

You would like to see NRL players injured by crazed supporters running onto the field? Because the guy was not only after the Parra players, he threw his can at the Newcastle players in disgust also.

Speaking to Amy's cousin before we left Newy today and he mentioned that near the end of the match all the security go to the exits to make sure there is no fan trouble and theres just a few cops around the ground.

Seems very silly when player safety should be just as important as the fans. Monica Seles in the Tennis a few years back is the perfect example. What if it was more than a beer that clown was carrying!

Still they are struggling to play players, so don't know how they can manage to have more than the 2 or 3 security guards they have....

Would you believe this actually happened at a game just before my Under 14's soccer team were due to play. 8-30pm cold as and some dude done streak across the field in and under 15 girls game.

He hid in some bushes and when he mate went over with the clothes the ground people nabbed him and took the clothes to the canteen area

Not sure what happened then, becauase we played while that was going on.

Sorry bit off topic, thought I'd share it though...

Could always tattoo their face with 'Intruder' or something so they are recognised at the gates :D

Knights pitch invader pledges penance

Danny Woods doesn't remember much about his "brain explosion" at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Saturday night.

He knows that his much-loved Knights were down 44-0, and he remembers the "depressing" image of the team's recently resigned football manager, Mark Sargent, on a forlorn bench.

But the 37-year-old father of two from Hamilton South remembers little of running out onto the field - which he managed despite nursing a recently broken ankle - shaping to tackle several Parramatta players and throwing his beer down in disgust as the Eels hammered down their eighth try of the night.

"There was a feeling of disappointment in the crowd because it was our 12th straight loss," an embarrassed and remorseful Woods said yesterday.

"To find out the club you've loved and supported since day one could go bankrupt next week and end just like that is pretty depressing.

"And seeing Mark Sargent as a lone figure on the sideline, not being part of the club he put so much of his blood, sweat and tears into probably didn't help that feeling either. I admit I'd had a few [beers]. This [the alcohol] and all those other depressing factors helped me do something I will regret for the rest of my life."

AdvertisementYesterday Woods was facing a lifetime ban on attending NRL matches and a $500 police fine.

Knights CEO Ken Conway said he would "hear everybody's side of the story before we make a decision" on the matter.

"When the man concerned ran onto the field, security was getting ready to escort the referees [off], so I don't think our security is lacking," he said yesterday.

Police said they would not be taking any further action until they spoke to Knights club officials today.

Woods said his actions were "uncharacteristic".

The part-time music teacher spent about 30 seconds on the ground before being grabbed by a Knights trainer.

He doesn't remember telling the trainer and an arresting police officer, "Well, someone's gotta make a tackle", a claim overheard by several of the Parramatta players.

Woods said the memory "blackout" had concerned him.

"What happened on Saturday is not in my nature," he said.

"I teach and offer support to kids who have behavioral problems and coach junior soccer.

"[On Sunday] I sat down with my family and decided that I will never drink alcohol again. My actions have not only embarrassed my family, it has embarrassed the club and its fans.

"All I can do is apologise to my family, the Knights and their fans for what I've done. It was totally unacceptable and I will regret it for the rest of my life."

Woods has since emailed an apology to the Knights.

In it, he offers to clean the field after every Knights home game for the rest of the year or become a tackling bag for any players wanting to vent their anger as part of a punishment which he said he deserved.

I wonder if him being a tackling bag will help the Knights D

Yeah not lacking at all. Hey Haney here's your escort!

Stuff the players and coaching staff. They don't need looking after.

Fair dink, if they believe they have no problem then its plain to see why that club has ended up in so much turmoil. A bunch of badgers could run it better!
