The Roosters have signed Brett Firman for the next three years.

Now all that's left is for Head to do his knee in the first five rounds next year and they can forget about 2005 as well!!

It's probably a smart move by the Queens it would have freed up a fair bit under the cap so they could keep Supersize Me, and knowing Firman he'll be injured and out for the year by round three anyway.

I don't care anyway as long as we retain Sullivan and "Fingers" Dumas.

That's just plain wrong

How about the Roosters just buy every single player in the competition, even the ones they dont need, and hire them out on a loan period to the other clubs so that they have a token opposition to play against each week

I'd be interested to know what he's on

I heard the Dragons have to pay half his salary anyway.....

Don't forget that Fittler is gone next year, freeing up a sh!tload for the Roosters.
They haven't signed anyone else.

Richo - How does that work? Have the Queens 'sold' or traded him to the Rorters or something?

Sounds like a great deal! NOT!

Because the Dragons have released him before his contract is finished, so they're paying out what they owe him.

Hell's bells...Surely you'd just make him play out his time in PL or something?

OR, is it that they signed him for a MINT and now they need the room under the cap?

So does that mean the Rorters get him for nothing, or if they are only paying him $20K or something (despite him earning say $120K thanks to the Queens payout), they only have to count the $20K under the cap?

This is shonky!!!

It's not quite like that.
When both parties agree to terminate a contract it is just a negotiation.
Different story if the player is sacked or the player does not want to leave or he can't get another job.
But he would have got a settlement from the dragons possibly making up for a shortfall in the contract from the rorsters

It's ridiculous. There are lesser clubs that need wuality halfs more, The game would be far better served ensuring players like firman are herded towards teams that need them.

Well I originally agreed with this post

but then I thought "what club could possibly need a quality half more than a team whose number 7 is Brett Finch?"

Geez the Roosters are "LUCKY" aren't they. They get Walker for a pittance whilst Souths pays 'em, Wing too (i think) and now Firman.
