Lockyer has overtaken Johns due to all his injuries. And i dont think Johns will be able to claim the title as worlds best ever again because Lockyer will improve and Johns wont be the same as he was. Interestingly Johns will be the oldest back in 2005 (equal with Peachey and Hopoate), i think it will be difficult for Johns to reclaim the worlds No. 1 due to his injuries.

I dont think he will be as good but overall in their careers I beleive Johns has done more to claim the better overall player.

A lot of people don't think too fondly of Johns (I am one of them) but Lockyer is no-where near as dominate as Johns is in a match. Perhaps Lockyer is better at the current time, but at their best I'd take Johns any day of the week

At their best Johns hasn't done what Lockyer did to the Poms. Everyone who saw that worth listening to, discribed it as the most dominant display by one player ever seen, not ever seen other than by Johns, ever seen. So taking that into account, by your words at their best, Lockyer has to win it hands down.

Yeah I the game against poms was good, but really now a days to be dominant your gotta have a bit of luck which I beleive was with Lockyer...Yes he is good, good as Johns? No imo...

At their best, has Lockyer done what Johns has at club level, & as consistently as he has? No. Ask yourself which is better

Ive done that and come up with the only name a sane person could come up with. Lockyer.

Lockyer at his best is better than johns, johns is incrediably over rated, and to think after the past 3 years people still are rating johns!? i mean f**k me, if any other player had had an injury run like his they would be written off as a no hopper ALA Prince, but johns gets a free run at the best tag despite playing a sweet f**k all games for 3 years?

i dont think so

For me I look at the key aspects to be a great player.
And Johns and Lockyer are equal in all aspects except one.....Defence.
In the past 3 years, we cant compare the two because we havn't seen enough of Johns. Johns at his best IMO is more effective then Lockyer at his best, hence he is the better player.
Johns likes challenges, and he has basically taken all challenges put to him, and he has succeded in most. Johns has gave himself a challenge to get to a stage where he could raise the bar to where he left it before these unfortunate injuries came along.
However, I dont like comparing players. I'm just glad that in the year 2005 I could get to see these two great players partner up in the halves pairing at Suncorp Stadium against the Kiwis in April. Im glad that I get to see these rare players do what they do best and thats enough for this footy fan right here.

Despite what you think of him, league will be poorer when he retires, no one can deny hes been one of the gretest players weve ever seen, and I think one day you'll probably regret those words.

i dont think so
2004 f**k all is right
Yeah 16 appearences in 2003
and most of the season in 2002 except the finals i can see how you can come to the opinion he has played f**k all games... Idiot

Johns dominates a shit load more than Lockyer..... Yeah sure the test verse the poms was an extreme one off.... If lockyer can repeat that preformace he may be claimed as a great.. but Johns constantly dominates matchs of all levels.. unlike lockyer, who dominates every so often.

You watch, the exact same thing will happen to Lockyer. After a few years of being 'the best' we will all get sick of him & be begging someone to knock him off his throne.

Lockyers performances at club level weren't all that

Interesting comment about Johns dominating at all levels.
Wasn't it Johns himself who said he wanted to be be more dominant in S.O.O and rep games?
He's certainly no Wally Lewis at S.O.O. in my book.
Neither is Lockyer at S.O.O. but his Australian games are first class.

Johns dominated the Brits when they came to Australia. Him and Buderus where carving them up. Johns was more dominant then Lockyer when NZ came over in 2003.

How on Earth can you compare the two, seeing asthough Johns keeps getting himself injured and Lockyer's officially started playing a new position just last season. If Johns survives this season without slipping on the soap in the shower, and Lockyer keeps improving from this season then this could be a relevant argument.
