The Players Dont Care

It seem to me that the Titans new Mary's plan was to have Widdop the focus for all plays but the one out running. Widdop was heavily marked and as a result played poorly tonight. My only question is:

Why wasn't the B plan rolled out after about 15min when it was clear the Titans were a wake up to Mary's brilliant plan.
Stop blaming the coach for everything. Start blaming the players as well as the coach. Are you watching the broncos vs storm? Great players on show with great coaches behind them. Dragons have neither.
But it isn't all Mary's fault, the players are not standing up. Mary didn't instruct the players to miss tackles, drop balls and give away penalties.

Im so gutted, how we have had the best attack to a frigging cork pop gun , WTF
The continuous use of our power game has busted and burnt out our forwards. Widdop could shine when the forwards were dominating. Now that they are not dominating, we are back to the 2016 problems.

All could have been avoided if we had a bench of 4 big forwards who can each play at least 40min. A clever use of the bench and selective use of the power game might have extended the capacity of our forwards to perform.

Just got home from the game tonight what a waste of money and time....bitterly disappointed not just because we lost again but the way we lost......uninterested,undisciplined rabble we were tonight..no shape no structure and our kicking game especially from Widdop was bloody abysmal ...once again after 5 mins I knew we hadn't turned up to play..again players early in the game were walking back on side showing no interest or urgency.....why on earth Widdop kept bombing away was beyond me... on most occasions there was no one within a bulls roar of the football.....when their winger scored again in the second half he had time to run right from the sideline along the try line and put the ball under the black dot without one pair of hands anywhere near him because players showed absolutely no interest in trying to keep him out wide...it was then that I thought yeah that's about where we are at this stage of the season.....how we came back to beat the Knights last week is totally beyond me.....believe me the Titans wernt that good but we were bloody terrible....sat with a strong contingent of Dragons supporters tonight and like me were very very ashamed of our effort

I really feel for you. Did you ask for your money back. Good point regarding Titans 3rd try. Sums it all up. You probably didn't see the players laughing with opposition right after the game. Another day, another dollar while the fans keep paying up. We are a spent force, I'd prefer we forfeit.

What does Mary do when they show no interest ? Coaches job is to get the best of our his players what does McGregor get ? Nothing because he offers nothing

My point is that some people on here never hold the players accountable. They always blame the coach. Its not all the coaches fault. I blame the players for sucking.

Unfortunately just watched the highlights of The Storm blowing The Donkeys off the park...as much as I hate them what a professional well coached well drilled and dedicated team they are....now I am about to put myself through the pain of watching the replay of our mob of imposters playing the Titans

Maybe Bennett is onto something, he wants players who are prepared to accept less money to put their careers first. Our players seem to be motivated only by money which gives the Dragon's long suffering fans no hope for this season and beyond. This attitude from the players is not surprising when you have a board and CEO who only care about keeping their noses in the trough.

I must say all League fans are in the same boat about this....but yes it grates me to see this 'love in' after the game....especially by the loosing side ...
I recall Des Hassler one time was so peeved with a Manly performance he did not speak them for a week..
Well he wouldn't have much to say this season then... :joy::joy:

The coach is the linchpin - he is the leader that inspires his troops.
He is also supposed to provide the technical and strategic nous to devise game plans and adapt them to the opposition we are playing.
I admire the way you stick up for McGregor but he IS the main reason for performances like today - and last week - and the week before that.
At some point you have to face the fact that we do not have a strong coach.
I just did a quick google on his qualifications and they speak for themselves:
"McGregor joined the Dragons' coaching staff in 2002 as a strength and conditioning coach, a position he also held with the NSW Blues.[6]

In 2009, with Wayne Bennett joining the club, McGregor left and took up the head coaching job at the Western Suburbs Red Devils club in the Illawarra Rugby League competition.[7]

McGregor coached the Illawarra NSW Cup team in 2012 and 2013 before taking up the assistant position at St George Illawarra.
His successor at the Illawarra Cutters was another former Illawarra player, Ian Millward.

Following the announcement of the sacking of incumbent first grade coach, Steve Price, McGregor was elevated to coach of the top tier team in May 2014, initially until the end of the 2014 season.[8] Following improved form, McGregor was announced as the full-time head coach for the next three seasons until the end of 2017.[9]"

He was the assistant coach to Price!
Bennett didn't want him around.
What criteria were used to make this appointment?
Certainly not based on any measurable FG coaching pedigree.

If we all want to stop the angst we have to invest in a quality coach.
No compromises or half measures.
The Players will thank you,
The Fans will thank you.
The sponsors will thank you.

Good summation. Mary rightfully enjoyed the plaudits in 2015(in the early rounds)and again in 2017(early rounds)so he is not just on the end of criticism. Why he deserves a roasting is we are seeing continued weak & insipid performances when we have so much to play for. As great a player as Vaughan is for us he would not have been the difference today(he was off the field almost the whole game against Newy last week yet we somehow found a way back).
As for you question on criteria, that's easy. Mary is cheap as will bow to Doust almost unequivocally.

I suspect you are right which only underlines why we are lurching from one disaster to another.

There accountable by contract and by first grade which by all means they have there contract and Mary doesn't ever drop anyone for not performing so they have there fg at the end of a day it's a job to them

No, I said don't blame the coach for everything not dont blame the coach.
Go ahead and blame the coach but please also blame the players.
This is a thread about players and surely they are partly to blame for playing like muppets?
That is all my friend, I am not trying to take on the entire forum.
