How about Bob Hagans going away present?.In return for betraying the trust of the club,s supporters, getting the club effectively thrown out of the premiership and costing them a million plus in the process,Hagan has been kissed off with $190k plus $52k a year for 5 years plus a Merc.Where can I get a job like that?

Whoever said 'crime doesnt pay' was deluding themselves.

Does this mean the culture of corruption and greed in Canterbury Leagues is still as strong as ever?

The disappointing thing is that the new board agreed to this largesse.Perhaps they had contractual obligations but to assure the Dogs fans that things really have changed, they could have knocked it back and let Hagan chase them for it.
Hagan terminated his own employment which should have voided any contractual obligations.

I know a deals been done so they can bring some sort of 'closure' to it but fair dinkum, if this happened at Saints I'd be screaming. That place wouldnt pay for a new doormat. (Look how hard it is to get a few hundred grand for the home ground!)

The Bulldogs have effectively said, here mate take $500K and get a job elsewhere.
They must be lighting their cigars with $100 notes out Belmore way.

One of the things which really irks me is this CEO tag ,along with the resultant level of remuneration. An average club has a budget of $10m of which $2.5 is an NRL grant and $2m a grant from the Leagues Club. That leaves $5.5m in earned or generated income. Now,any business with a turnover of $5.5m doesn,t have a CEO,it simply has a manager or general manager.Salary would be 120k max.Yet these incompetents pin the CEO tag on themselves to justify 250k salaries.Do you know of any so-called CEO in the NRL who could command 250k plus outside League?I don,t.

very true ''oneye'',it's still very much semi proffesional football in this country, whether it be nrl or afl,it's still the old boys hiring there matesfor marketing position, fitness co-ordinators or assistant coffee makers!!!

a perfect example is the geelong football club in the afl,about10 years they employed trevor king(debbie flintoffs husband)who was the head of athletics australia,he was very competent and tried to rid the club of the old footballing culture but was sacked about 4 weeks into the job for doing so,the old farts did'nt wan't an outsider taking there perks away, probably explains why geelong have'nt won a premiership since 1963!!!!
