The Prince thing

A lot of debate has been made about Scott Prince's form over the last few weeks and whether it warrants his representative selection. Of course, it has me genuinely excited as both a Queensland and Australian supporter, as competition for spots is always healthy.

In the instance that Lockyer is healthy and is picked at 6 for these two teams, with Thurston remaining at 7, then surely Scott Prince deserves a spot on the bench. How could this suggestion be possibly argued against? In terms of Aus selection, I believe that Bird deserves to keep his spot, and he should start in the 13. No others really can compete with Prince's form at the moment.

The case has been made, it now remains to be seen whether the Qld and Aus selectors will make the correct decision.

yeah i reckon prince should be on the bench in the origin. we've lost shaun berrigan, so theres no utility on the bench. prince could fill this role somewhat. it would also be good because lockyer has been struggling this year so if he got injured during the game prince could cover

It's a waste of a bench spot. I'd rather have another hooker on the bench, PJ marsh wouldn't be a bad option.

Yeah because Cameron Smith may be puffing after 20 minutes hey.

Prince can do everything he can and more. Ridiculous notion and take off the Bronco blinders.

Agree. He starts or misses out. Though I'd be hoping for someone better than PJM as our 14.

I'd take Cooper Cronk on the bench. Good 5/8 or half, hooker, and could probably fit out in the outside backs if he had too.

from a NSW fans perspective, i really hope you pick thurston over prince. prince has him covered at the moment.

You clearly implied it:roll:
Real mature personally attacking like that too.
all i implied is that prince is playing better football than thurston at the moment. get over your own insecurities. god forbid someone naysay your precious little thursty.

and when did this become a maturity contest? you're the one putting words in my mouth.

LOL Yeah,like I'm insecure:roll:
I just find it amusing that you seem to think we'd be any less of a football team without prince on the side.
We didn't seem to do too bad last year,or the year before last...

and when did this become a maturity contest? you're the one putting words in my mouth.
Oh please.
Oh I'm immature, yet I'm still able to string an argument together without using attacks:roll:

and who would prince replace to come off the bench?

well it doesnt look like lockyer will be getting much game time in the lead up to game one so you might need someone to cover for him. we will really miss shaun berrigan i think. prince could also back up for hooker more then capably if cam smith was to get injured. i really would like to see prince and thurston play an origin together without lockyer

Then you pick someone who is a hooker or has played hooker that covers 5/8. And to be honest there is a bloke called Inglis who will be in our side..I think he does ok at 5/8 as well. Cooper Cronk and PJ Marsh offer better utility value than Prince who whilst he can play 6, he is a 10 times better 7.

lol ok sunshine. let me put it in plain and simple english for you:

at this stage in the competition (that being 5 rounds in) QLD would be far more potent in attack with prince in the number 7 jersey over thurston. not, in any of my posts in this thread, have i alluded to NSW winning this years state of origin if thurston plays in the #7 jersey. as a NSW fan i would hope that the QLD selectors opt with the less potent option in thurston. i'm glad you find it amusing that i believe QLD would be less of a team without prince in the side, because it illustrates to me that the QLD supporters are quite wrapped up in thurston as a player - who is performing well under his potential at present - and i do hope that the QLD selectors share your viewpoint. it could be the difference between NSW getting beaten by 10 or by 30 or 40 points.

how's that princess? is anything unclear to you now? do i need to go deeper down this rabbit hole to satiate your insecurity and bias? plain and simply, prince is playing better football than thurston, and i hope that the player with lesser form is chosen for your state team.

cowgirl stop getting so defensive.

i'd pick Payne on the bench ahead of PJ marsh etc tbh. Prince however woudl be my first choice if he misses out the 7

And yet you continue to be aggressive and attack mr perverse, lol.

Personally,I don't think the form is that different - The difference is the team and how each is going.
Like I have said I would like to see how Prince would go in a losing side or struggling side and to gauge what he would pull out.

what ? did you just say cronk or pj marsh was a better halfback then prince?

pj marsh has no utility value. hes a hooker thats it. and if you say hes a halfback.... well lets put it this way. hes about as good a halfback as michael ennis.

Payne would have been my pick at the start of the year but he is horribly out of form. And I think PJ covers more positions- 5/8, halfback whereas Payne is a specialist hooker and I am not sure we need a specialist extra 9 with Smith at 9.
