So far me and Marshall Magic are the only ones that rate Tim Grant, he's got origin written all over over him...especially if Brandy's one of the selectors!

I definitely rate him, but I'm a Panthers fan. Although he's easily ahead of the majority of the front rowers that have been picked the past couple of years.

My squad would be:

1. Josh Dugan
2. Jarryd Hayne
3. Michael Jennings
4. Michael Gordon (assuming he moves to right centre for Penrith)
5. Akuila Uate
6. Todd Carney
7. Mitchell Pearce
8. Kade Snowden
9. Robbie Farah
10. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
11. Greg Bird
12. Paul Gallen
13. Luke Lewis

14. Kurt Gidley
15. Anthony Watmough
16. Tim Mannah
17. Tim Grant

Now there's some bias with picking Michael Gordon at right centre. But he sees himself as a centre and with any luck Matt Elliott will give him a run in the position he wants to play. IMO it's where he'll truly shine.

As for captain - give it to anyone of Gallen, Lewis, Farah or Bird.

I'm liking the amount of Josh Dugan at fullback teams that are being posted. Good stuff.

I think i'm gonna have to reserve judgement until next year though.

I almost left him out to accomodate Michael Gordon on one wing and Akuila Uate on the other. You can't really drop Hayne as he has been our best back the past couple of season.

In the end I figured I could have them all if Gordon becomes a centre next year. So my backline is counting on that.

If M.Gordon really keeps his form up and plays in the centres next year for Penrith, then definitely I would have him there over Lawrence or Champion and the likes.

He's in my side.

Mitchell Aubusson won't be anywhere near the team unless their is a severe injury toll in the back row.

Tim Grant will play Origin for a very very long time. He may get his shot next year, if he doesn't he will the following here and he will be there for about 10 years. Much like Petero and Price for QLD.

Someone mentioned Gordon in the centres. I think he may play a full year with Penrith in the centres next year, so definitely a option.

Realy like the teams posted on here.
Just a few questions though, does anyone believe that Brett Stewart will reclaim the number 1 Jersey, and should Tony Williams be given a shot??????????????

I don't think T-Rex is eligible, but I may be wrong.

With the amount of football he's played in the last 2 years, I think Brett Stewart is going to be struggling playing NRL in 2011, let alone Origin.

Tony Williams is in the Kiwi Squad (although he shouldn't be).

I think Brett Stewart will be lucky to play in the NRL again, but if he does, he has to show his form again. Just like Mini did.

Morris has been sh*t at rep level and fails to create opportunities for himself

Uate is a specialist at turning sh*t into gold and is a certainty to be on the wing. He and Hayne will provide a huge X factor for the Blues in 2011

NSW is building some options in the forward pack:

---

HOOKER

9. Ennis/Farah/De Gois

Expect the resumption of the battle between Ennis and Farah, same as every year.

POTENTIAL BOLTER: Isaac De Gois (plays dirty, maybe even more mongrel in him than Ennis, and will pester the QLDers)

---

FRONT ROW

8. Weyman

10. Mannah/Douglas/Snowden/Grant

16. Learoyd-Lahrs
17. Mannah/Douglas/Snowden/Grant

Weyman and Tom Learoyd-Lahrs are the only NSW props in the last few years who have really stood up and shown their worth - Weyman has struggled a bit at Origin level but was still head and shoulders above Kite, White, etc. Using that, I think that City Origin props Tim Mannah and Tim Grant, and Country Origin props Kade Snowden and Luke Douglas should compete for the other spots. A few other options are floating around, like Tigers duo of Bryce Gibbs and Keith Galloway, new Bulldog Aiden Tolman, and currently injured Dragons hitup merchant Dan Hunt, but they would all be questionable selections as far as I am concerned, with each of them lacking that extra bit of oomph against a very dominant QLD forward rotation.

DO NOT PICK: Luke Bailey (step backwards), Josh Perry (off to SL, rubbish anyway), Brett White (soft and useless), Jason King (soft), Ben Cross (step backwards), Jason Ryles (step backwards), Willie Mason (off to ESL, TLL is better anyway), Brent Kite (never stepped up at Origin level, too easily dominated)

POTENTIAL BOLTER: Dane Tilse (massive unit, surprisingly effective and very consistent over the past few seasons)

---

SECOND ROW

11. Watmough
12. Heighington/Waterhouse/Smith
13. Lewis/Bird/Anasta

14. Lewis/Bird/Anasta
15. Gallen

There are three genuine ballplaying locks in Lewis, Bird and Anasta, all of whom have had extensive Origin experience. I would pick one at lock, and one on the bench as a utility (get rid of Gidley) - Anasta would probably be the one to miss out. Gallen is a must, as is Watmough - regardless of form, these guys have shown and proved at Origin level for the last few years. The final spot in the backrow is much of a muchness, but it needs to be a high workrate player in attack and defense. I strongly suggest Chris Heighington if England don't snap him up - massive workrate, breaks tackles, has some mongrel in him too. Waterhouse has been there before, Ben Smith is a very good defensive hitter too, with decent attacking skills and plenty of size.

DO NOT PICK: Ryan Hoffman (off to ESL, too one-dimensional), Luke O'Donnell (off to ESL, no discipline), Nathan Hindmarsh (step backwards), Andrew Ryan (step backwards), Glenn Stewart (his style of play doesn't suit Origin), Anthony Laffranchi (same as Glenn Stewart), Anthony Tupou (been rubbish for a while now)

POTENTIAL BOLTER: Mitch Aubusson (outstanding defender, breaks the line almost at will, speed to burn, Menzies MKII)

I would have put Creagh on the 'do not pick' too based on his rubbish performances at that level, but his club form at the backend of this season has been, for lack of better words, outstanding.

---

Building around these, I honestly feel that any decent backline could do well behind them. The halves HAVE to be Carney/Pearce though - even those who hate the Roosters with a passion can't deny that they are the halves combination moving forward. Soward and Sutton both lack that edge that Carney has at five-eighth, and Pearce has a slightly better allround game than the more one-dimensional Luke Walsh and Peter Wallace.

If he gets picked, I'd have my money on Isaac throwing the first punch. He's a fiery little merkin.

I think that Watmough/Gallen/Bird has to be our back row. If we're serious about picking a team and sticking with it, Anthony Watmough has to be there. Injury cruelled him this season, but he proved how important he is to NSW in the 2009 series. Gallen and Bird both proved their worth this year. It also gives us a great balance, with a worker, somebody who can break the line and a ball playing lock.

I'd probably have Gallen on the bench to start, and either Chris Heighington or Ben Smith on for the opening exchanges.

I still honestly think Mitch Aubusson is potentially the most underrated forward going around this year. Up there with Ben Lowe and Scott Bolton.

22 games, 14 linebreaks, 10 try assists, 29 tackles per game. Very very impressive figures. Some article mentioned it earlier this year too, but apparently he averages the most linebreaks per run this year. So when he takes the ball up, more often than not he makes it count.
